Measles was just about wiped-out in the United States, until recently. Now, due to an increasing desire by young parents to opt-out of immunizations, the protection associated with so-called "herd immunity" is starting to slip away resulting in a new outbreak of a truly awful disease. Statewide, the opt-out rate is six percent compared to the two percent average rate across the country.
