Candy-Coated Confetti Popcorn

Grandpa Nat loves telling Molly, Tooey and Trini spooky stories when they sleepover. Snacking on fresh popcorn makes the stories even better!
This activity adds some tasty and colorful fun to plain popcorn. It’s fast, fun and flavorful! Read through the ingredients list and directions with your child. Ask your child questions while you make the recipe such as, "What other ingredients could we add? Which ingredients do you like the best — salty or sweet?"
Ingredients and Materials
Directions
Prepare two bags of your favorite microwave popcorn.
Carefully pour out the two bags of popcorn on a parchment-paper-lined baking sheet. Ask your child to use their senses to describe the popcorn. What does it look like? What does it smell like? Try a piece. How does it taste? What does it feel like?

In a bowl, melt one heaping cup of candy melts or meltable white chocolate according to the package directions. Add food coloring if desired.

Using a spoon, help your child take scoops of the melted candy and drizzle it over the popcorn.

While the candy is still wet on the popcorn, have your child shake sprinkles all over the popcorn.

Let the mixture sit until the candy hardens. Then ask your child to use their senses again. Does the popcorn look, smell, feel or taste different? How? Which do you like better?
Put the candy-coated popcorn in a bowl and enjoy!
