It's the first of 258 semifinals on the night is the 12 and one walk.
The Raiders out of Region six take on the 12 and one north Gwinnett Bulldogs.
Out of Region seven Game.
Nine of ten live this weekend right here on GPB.
And the winner moves on to the state.
Championship next Saturday night.
And good evening, everyone.
I'm Dave Gardner, alongside Phil Proctor.
And Phil, Saturday Night Football Fever here inside the Georgia Dome.
A pair of once.
Beaten teams squaring.
Off for the second time this year.
We know, Dave, to think about this game.
There's just one thing that comes to mind.
James Brown had a song called The Big Payback, and that's exactly what Walton is looking for tonight.
First time these two teams ran up against each other.
They lost 2116 to the Bulldogs and they'll win it.
There you go.
Let's talk a little bit about the Walt Raiders feel.
They come in here with all kinds of athletes, especially in the skill positions.
Well, you want to talk about a skill position?
JJ Jackson Triple J.
You see his numbers up there over 1700 yards rushing.
And this guy is not only a powerful running day, but he's also a slasher.
You got to give that Bulldog defense something to chase when you.
Get an opportunity to.
But he's not the only one on the other side of the ball.
Defensively, they've got a guy and.
I like this guy.
Jason Thomas wears number 99.
He leads the team in tackles and he's got a great name.
Chase This guy not only understands football, he'll play the gaps, but he's also the leader on.
That defensive line.
Absolutely.
Coach Ed Dudley, the head coach of Walton.
Here's Coach Dudley on what we.
Can expect.
Tonight from the Raiders.
Offensively, from the Walton writers, you can expect to see our West Coast offense.
We use multiple formations.
Well, we're a base zone run team.
We like to throw the ball short and frequently.
So hopefully that will go well for us tonight.
And defensively, we're a43 defense.
We use two or three different personnel groupings and and we'll play several coverages tonight trying to cope with North Gwinnett passing game.
Coach Dudley has done a great job in 13 seasons with that Walton Raider program.
All right, Phil, let's talk a little bit about the North Gwinnett Bulldogs.
These guys have an explosive offense.
They like to throw it first run second.
And if you're going to throw it, you've got to have a guy that can do that and that guys.
Michael Tamburro Now Michael, one of the things you got to really enjoy about this quarterback is he has what we call Happy Feet.
No matter where he goes, he's constantly moving his feet and he's got great technique.
The thing about it is he can go short, he can go long with the deep ball.
You see his numbers there.
This is an incredible, incredible, talented guy.
And he'll do a lot of things on the football field that will really help this Bulldog offense up.
Defensively, they got a man named Eric Everhart, number 94.
And what coaches say about him, he's a guy whose motor never stops.
You see him a tremendous amount of tackles there.
But the thing I really like about him is he's like having a coach on the field for the defensive line and once again, he's going to give that Walton offensive.
Line all they can handle.
Coach Bob Spier is the head coach his first season at North Gwinnett.
Here's Coach.
Fire with what we can expect tonight.
From the Bulldogs.
Well, we're a worse spread football team offensively.
We're multiple sets.
We're going to be in a lot of different formations anywhere from one back to back, two empty.
We've got a very diverse quarterback that gives us a whole smorgasbord of things that we can do.
And Mikey ten Bureau, so you're going to see a hopefully a balance between the passing game and the run game.
We'll try to take what the team has given us during the course of the game.
But we're very, very multiple, a lot of shifting, a lot of motions and a lot of different sets try to use the whole field vertically and horizontally.
Defensively, we're a35 attack football team.
A lot of up tempo stunts, blitzes, try to pressure football teams, more man coverage and zone.
But we have the ability very, very, very multiple defense.
We also Coach Meyer, the third coach in four years at North Gwinnett, but the Bulldogs have been able to keep it going.
Time now to meet the.
Third member of our broadcast team.
Let's go downstairs to Jon.
Nelson with more on this playoff atmosphere.
Jon.
Thank you, Dave.
Let's talk about the dome experiences that these these two teams may or may not have.
Walton was here in oh four.
They were intimidated.
Then Ed Dudley from what says, Yeah, I was here for a pro game earlier this year.
I don't think that counts.
North Won at Bob Speier.
North Gwinnett has never been to the Dome, but he structured his schedule specifically for games like this a season scrimmage against Prattville, the six eight champion Alabama gets them ready for a game like this.
They did a walk through at 10:00 this morning.
Bob's buyer guy says his team is ready.
It's going to be about tempo.
Our heads are going to have to be on a swivel.
It's in the back upstairs.
So on Raiders open a big better, faster and stronger here tonight than the North.
Gwinnett Bulldogs, Walton at 12 and one once again, Ed Dudley, the head coach in his 13th season.
And for the Bulldogs, hopefully for them tonight.
It won't end here inside the Georgia Dome for Gwinnett, also 12 and one.
Of course, these two met back in week one.
And it was North Gwinnett winning 21 to 16.
They have Gardner, Phil Proctor, back with you.
John Nelson on the sideline tonight.
They're going to look at the Walton faithful making the short trip down the highway from Marietta tonight.
And, of course, for North Gwinnett, the short trip over from the Suwannee area for sports, Gwinnett.
One of the oldest schools in Gwinnett.
County, located three miles from the old Atlanta Falcons practice facility.
And again, the coaches and players are fired up.
Phil, looking forward to a great run right here at again get a lot of fireworks early to see what Andrew will put it away what will be on offense.
First and don't play more of a ball control game, which is certainly a contrast to what we'll see once Northwood has the football, when they're pretty much in and out of the snap.
What you're talking about is basically tempo.
This is what we're going to look at who's going to set the tempo early.
And who's going to come out and as you said, punch him in the mouth first.
That's exactly what this is all about.
This is going to be one of the best football games.
And I think we've got two of the best bands here, as will Kyle.
My son will be of the way he.
Handles the kicking and funny duties in a.
Deep kick and this will come out to the 20.
That was Billy Burns, 45 on the return wall.
And again, their offense averaging 31 and a half points a game on the season.
They have truly done an excellent job there, outscoring opponents 88 to 67 in the playoffs.
Of course, they are more of a run first type of offense and their game plan tonight will really be to try to slow the pace of this one here a little bit.
And they're going to look at the starting quarterback for Walton again.
Great.
And Fireball and his numbers there, 58 of 97, a little over 800 yards, nine touchdowns and one interception will also see him and Ray Rayburn swap out series.
Rayburn will wear number 5/1 and ten for Walton from the 20 and the handoff is to Jackson but he is eight up.
Behind the line of scrimmage big time.
Player there defensively by north Gwinnett number 27 Donald Maxwell.
Let's take a look at that Walton offense.
And you see the line Francis the center flanked by Kelly and Gilbert, the guards Gibson and Quattrone, the tackles Petrocelli and excellent stand out and of course the backs Jackson tant burns as Pedro and the receivers with Tenuta the tight in and yes, he is the son of John Tenuto the defensive coordinator at Georgia Tech, second down at 14 after a loss of four, this time the ball brought out of the shotgun with twins left and right.
Play a time now under a little bit of pressure will step up and he will take it and run it and up across the 25 to the 26, let's take a look at that North Gwinnett defense.
They've been outstanding averaging allowing just 11.8 points a game this year.
Richard Wellborn and Everhart who we focused on in the pre game up front and the 353 look a Nora martinez and Maxwell the linebackers and in the secondary fill us Hatchell van horn Humphrey and Moreland very outstanding back there in the secondary for north Gwinnett third down and three right here for the Raider offense on their opening series that's Jackson trying.
To turn the corner bounces off of a tackler and he will be dropped down right at the marker.
And it's going to be close.
Depending on the spot.
You're going to look at Jackson, who we talked about there in the pre-game a little bit there, Phil, and he is an outstanding runner.
Well, one thing that we talked about, he is an outstanding runner.
But what North Bennett is definitely going to have to do is make sure they play contain.
They did a great job scraping down the line of scrimmage, not let them get outside.
Marqise Willis with that last stop and he held Jackson just shy of the marker so fourth down what will bring on the punt team right here and the raiders three and out Richard Kent the punter Cordero Dixon back deep for north Gwinnett Cordero gets in the way Good High kick Cordero will take it without an effort catch and he'll be hit dropped immediately at the 35 Great coverage right there Tyler Thompson, 36 one of the first guys there.
There you get a.
Look at the starter.
And boy, has he been impressive this year.
Michael Tamburro Mickey as he is affectionately known there and you see his numbers 1797 in the air with 16 touchdowns against just four interceptions and once again, just a junior.
So first and ten, these guys won't huddle very much.
It's wide open.
It's a spread.
And a lot of what we will see will be signaled in from the sideline on first and ten.
Now in the backfield, two slots and five if you're looking to get rid of him long down the field has a man there fourth down at the 31 What a catch right there by Jason Yoshimura, the leading wideout.
And just like that, North Gwinnett with the first big play.
Of the ballgame.
Well, you know, we talked about it, Mikey Tambour, this guy knows exactly what to do with the football.
He gets great protection and is just a great catch.
And I told you, watch it.
The guy has great feet and he knows constantly what's going on in the field.
He's like having a coach out there.
It was a 35 yard play and into Walton territory.
Robert Harrison with the coverage made the stop there.
But Joe Shimura, the big target with a big grab here on the first series first and ten Dalton cheating the corners up here a little bit Cam Burrell gets rid of it quick pass in the flap That's Kenny Barnes the tight end ball woes but they're going to say he was down recovered anyway by Tyler Jerry take a look at that bulldog offense coming into the game averaging 30 points a game this year Thomas the center Lapointe Shepard the guards with Doug in hand of the tackles and they're big double Jerry the running backs Dixon and Yoshimura the one ounce with Barnes the tight end and once again these guys throw the football second and six Sam bureau out of the shot that will give the jury.
All kinds of real estate in the middle of the field and inside the 20 and good enough for a first down.
Holland Kircher making the stop for Walton, but not before the Bulldogs move to Fifth.
They've been talked about.
Tempo might be ten below, basically inside.
You got a nice handoff.
These guys basically want to dictate the tempo of this game.
They're going to run and they're going to give Walton a lot of opportunities.
But thing is, you got to be able to slow these guys down.
So we'll be calling Jerry his name a lot.
He's the main back, but one of the favorite targets for Sam Barrow in that offense reverses field throwing back across right there dangerous play in the raider D was all over that one let's take a look at that Walton lineup defensively, basically a43 look.
But they do a lot of different things out of it and they have been solid this year, allowing just 16.2 points a game.
They've won several close games this year.
Their defense has really been the highlight.
Austin, Blackburn, Thomas and Thompson across the front linebackers, Hoag, Freiberg and Willock.
And in the secondary you see there Burns and Kim, as we take a look here at the second and ten play, Harrison and Garrett, the other two in the secondary, Tyler, Jerry trying to turn the corner.
Picks up pretty good yardage there on second down a couple of yards shy of the first.
Day.
This is exactly what they're going to be very good at.
They're going to be doing some razzle dazzle and Walton's just going to have to just play a bit at home, just kind of keep their eyes up, read as much as they can.
Robert Harrison once again forced them out north Gwinnett, their first semifinal appearance, no state titles hoping to change that this year.
But so far, so good here on their opening drive third down and a couple Dan Biro under.
Pressure He gets out of a tackle still on his feet, not out of the woods yet and he will go out of bounds.
Great coverage downfield by that secondary and Chase.
Thomas the guy who you talked about the pre game film finally put the clamps in by contender like.
He said a couple of times before he definitely has great feet and he has great skills.
He he's just smart and the kid just knows that we take a look out.
He looks like he's in trouble.
Walton did a good job bringing the pressure, but at the same time, this kid's feet never stop.
And he's constantly looking, even at the end, trying to.
Find somebody, throw the ball to fourth down and three they'll try.
Field All right.
Here, a 32 yard attempt for a down might get.
A hold and the kick is up and the kick is through.
There.
So 818 left here in the opening period at North Gwinnett on the board.
A 32 yard.
Field goal from that young man, Bulldogs up three nothing here in the first quarter, 818 left Dave Garner, Phil Proctor with a John Nelson sideline along with the rest of the Georgia Public Broadcasting Crew and Phil North Gwinnett looking good there on their opening drive.
It did stall late, but they put points on the board.
Well, the thing that we talked about earlier is that coach buyer, they're really going to just work hard at trying to get them better or that just create some things.
And the fact that this kid knows exactly you look at that seven plays 59 yards and takes 2 minutes off the clock.
And it's like I said, this North Gwinnett Bulldog football team is a very good football team.
They're very athletic.
And Mike Attenborough is just an extraordinary quarterback.
Of course.
I want to remind folks a quick reminder, friends and relatives outside of Georgia, this game is available live via the Gp-B website at WW W dot GPB dot org back slash football and we've got folks watching all around the world here tonight of course Yoshimura the receiver had that extend outstanding catch there on that opening drive his father is watching overseas in Japan here tonight.
Yeah, I understand he had to go back and take care of some family business.
And it's kind of nice that you can see your kids playing.
Halfway around the world, but that's what we do here at GPB.
We make it easy for them.
So North Gwinnett will be, in a way.
He puts his foot into it, burns back deep, and it will come down right at the goal line and it will come out to the 28 and they don't let you bring it out.
And high school ball.
So once again to the 20 and my six again controlling the field position with his leg here early, they're going to look at some of the faithful, a black out here tonight, if you will, from the north, Gwinnett fans, the student section affectionately known as the Bob Squad, in honor of Coach Bob's fire.
And these guys are decked out here tonight.
That, of course, on the other side, you've got the Walton faithful that are in the white out phase, all wearing wide here tonight.
I'm just wondering where your black out was.
The Raiders back to work here their second offensive possession three and out the first time and this is Ray Rayburn in at quarterback to give the Jackson bounces off of one tackler can't get away though and there's Everhart right there the first time we call his name defensively of course he's the guy that you really like there and we focused on in the pre game.
Well one of the challenges Walton will have to face is the fact that Norman that runs that three five and you can line and put eight in the bottom, but three in the box, you can have six in the box and they're going to bring that pressure constantly.
Everhart, a good looking ballplayer for North Gwinnett, listed at six one, 245, 12 and a half sacks on the year he causes havoc on opposing teams backfield Great Rayburn as we mentioned alternating series with Gray and Theo Ball, the two quarterbacks who basically play equally and we'll call both of them throughout the night and that one tipped out the line.
Looks like trying to swing it over to Billy Burns.
So we're going to talk about those throughout the night right here.
But one of those North Gwinnett Lineman got a ball on it.
And obviously they must give bit a little bit more respect.
The corner was off of them about six or seven yards.
So of course, you want to take advantage of anybody.
Give me that much harder.
Look at Coach Ed Dudley on the sideline, 13 years, as we mentioned, for the Walton Raiders, although 120 wins with the program out of Cobb County here tonight, third down and long this time, Rayburn out of the gun with twins up top.
Rolling, right, firing in the flag.
He's got a man there inside the first down.
That's Zach Tenuto, the tight end.
Who slipped out on that last play.
But again, well shy of the first.
And the Raiders will put it Tenuto.
Of course, the son, as you mentioned, of John Schneider right there getting his first catch of the night.
And Dave, defensively, once again talking out, wants to bring as much pressure as they can.
And also mentioned the technician there, radical Kovic.
Christian Rand Kovic, the son of.
Athletic director general, finished the.
Fun away by the Raiders fair catch signal, this time at the 32 by Cordero.
Dixon and North Gwinnett will go back on offense here with 714 left in this opening quarter.
Fans at the house here tonight making a lot of noise.
The Georgia Dome, of course, the three most playoff games in Georgia.
High school history played right here under this roof.
Of course, the final year, though, this year for the semifinals, as you see Coach Bob Spier.
Next year, of course, the state championship games will move on to the big top.
So back to work though.
The Bulldogs, Dan Burrow working.
Under center this time fake it out there, gets rid of it in a hurry and a dangerous play right there.
Tampa took a.
Big shot.
At the tail end of that play.
Bryce Garrett, Tommy Ferguson, number 15, keeps shooting.
Through there and just watch when he comes off of that left hand and just puts that pressure on.
Walton definitely has the ability to do that.
Once again, they'll get those front guys to just occupy the offensive linemen.
You put a few more folks on that edge.
Just makes it very tough for your quarterback.
As good as Mikey Timber is, you'll have to contend with that all night as well.
Ferguson rotates in and out at safety second and ten.
Sam Burrow firing this time.
Has a man that is that is Tyler Jerry on the back of the news is the handle on the football fell back on it.
And that could have been disastrous for the Bulldogs Billy Burns came in there too.
Nearly got a hold of that one there, ripped it away and nearly fell on it.
And when you get to this point in the season and you got to make sure that you're protecting the football, these guys are going to be out here trying to strip it and you're going to get your helmet on it.
You can had a ball falling all over the place.
You've got to take care of it.
You look at Jerry's numbers out of the backfield this year, 11.3 per catch.
Walt bringing a little bit of pressure, a little fake right there.
All kinds of real estate in the middle.
Watch out Tim Barrow across midfield and into Raider territory making guys miss in the middle.
Hey Coach Barr said that this kid is special.
He does a lot of things really well as you see on the replay, but the fake then comes up and he's got great speed as well.
Look at the agility.
Just fall forward, gets a couple extra yards.
Exciting player, you take another look at it.
He's a tough little quarterback.
Northwood at 14, returning starters from an 11 two team last year.
As you see, Tamba is rushing yards for the season for pump fake right there back in the middle Great screen set up Tyler Jerry with real estate and he's inside the 40 and that's a first down a gain of 12.
Tommy Ferguson again with the stop of the secondary and this is a North Gwinnett offense that has all kinds of screens.
You know, how most people have a running game is their bread and butter or a wing team will North Gwinnett, they throw screen passes that's really what they do and do it well.
But you got those offensive linemen and understand what they need to be doing as well.
Well, they've got some size up front.
Sheppard listed at six for 305, dug in at 265 at six foot four.
They've got some hogs up front.
They can execute.
A little read option right here.
Going to swing it out Jerry bobbles it gets a hold of it And a nice tackle by Bryce Garrett but not before good yardage on first down once again by north Gwinnett.
And you give the Walton defense a lot of credit and they're not giving up big yardage, but they're given up the yardage nevertheless.
You see Mike here, wait till the last minute, makes the pitch, bobbles the ball a little bit on the outside.
But once again, you keep moving those chains.
You know, the depth perception a little bit different here inside the dome.
It may have something to do with a couple of the Bibles there early on, second and three North Gwinnett, did you see the wide shot right there will run the front's formation with four wideouts at the bottom of the screen and they'll swing it out.
That's Jerry on the reception, trying to get the blockers in front of him.
Walton plays it nicely, but the Bulldogs do convert on second and short.
Ferguson and Burns combined for the hit.
But once again, Tamburro hooked up with Jerry Brown.
Another reception and a great job by Walton, even though, like I said, he got the pass out there, that bunch offense, you know, when you get those four receivers out there's a corner you don't exactly know where it's going to, but you got to give Waltman a lot of credit.
They're hanging in here.
Bob Spiers got to be pleased so far with his offense on the move.
Once again, just outside the Raider red zone.
Shotgun once again, quick slant inside.
And that is number 12 for Daryl Dixon with the reception.
And once again, good yardage on first down.
And you know, when you get that yardage on first down, you really have a lot of flexibility.
You can really open up the playbook a little bit on second and short.
Well, when you have the type of offense that normally that has a spread anyway, you already have the opportunity to do just about anything you want to do and.
Second and one right here, play action back the other way and that one in and out of the hands of Kurtley, double the fullback.
I don't know if this offense really necessarily has a fullback, but that's what he's listed as.
But they do split him out as a receiver as well.
They really do spread the football around.
A lot of different guys and they'll coach Ed Dudley hoping his defense can step up.
You know, we're just talking about tempo, you know, and that's exactly what norwin that's trying to do right now.
Control of.
Zone Bureau six.
118.
Rolling.
Firing one towards the end zone.
Touchdown, Cordero, Dixon a 14 yard touchdown pass and catch and north Gwinnett up nine nothing pending the patty.
Bell shift him over right here but what a great start for that Northwood head offense as you see Dixon comes up with a big grab, got behind the secondary ran a little post corner it looked like found himself open foul.
Miss it drills the patty and it's worth going at ten one zip an excellent start for that powerful bulldog.
Offense.
Oh, take a look at it again.
We've talked to Coach Bob before the game.
He said that he was going to allow his quarterback to do a.
Lot of different things.
And Mikey Tamburro understands exactly what he needs to do.
And his receivers did a very good job for him, running a nice pattern to the corner.
And I mean, once again, you got to give him just a lot of credit.
This kid knows what he's trying to accomplish.
Absolutely.
And a great route right there by Dickson, who broke open, broke it towards the middle, broke it back out.
As you see the drive right there, nine plays, 68 yards to 52, the 14 yard touchdown reception.
And this is a quick strike north Gwinnett Bulldog offense.
They actually trail their opponents in time of possession this year, but that tells you they don't hang on to the football very long.
Well, the thing is, you don't want to hang on to it.
But what I want to do is I got to give a shout out to the big guys up front and they given him a lot of time to throw the ball.
And when you got Michael Trimble as a quarterback, all you need some time is just a one 2 seconds and he's going to get it out.
Fourth one out, of course, in here and on top early.
Looking good.
In their first semifinal appearance, ball walk now will try to answer the bell live in the Raiders have won 12 straight since that opening week loss to this fourth Gwinnett team.
And once again, another kick right here at the goal line, Bryce Garrett trying to bring it out, but it will come back to the tow.
Back in there is Theobald and that one picked up by Burns, did a great job of keeping that one up off the carpet right there, but not much after the catch.
North Gwinnett playing it nicely.
Billy Burns, of course, a guy we've talked about here, you could look at that North Gwinnett defense who just made the play offensive coordinator for North Gwinnett is Troy Hobbs, a defensive coordinator is Morris Dixon Walton, of course, Ray Allen, the offensive coordinator with Rocky Hidalgo, the defensive coordinator, second and 12 after a loss or two.
Nice grab by Burns.
He just didn't have any room in front of him once he got it.
And all one back said, right here is the ball at the end of the year has a man and that is number two.
Kyron Esper drone with his first reception of the night for a gain of five.
And Walton will take advantage of that idea those corners going to play back a little bit and you're going to actually see them take advantage and pick up three or four or five yards.
A lot of teams are starting to do that now.
They use short passes as a way to move the chains.
That's been thrown a five 169.
Pound standout for the Raiders and it's third down at seven.
The Raiders have found themselves in a lot of third.
Loss situations here inside their.
First few drives.
And while the Bulldogs may have stepped into that neutral zone, I could make this third down a little more profitable.
So encroachment on the defense third yard, third game.
Rusty Wynn, the head man here tonight as our referees, you get a look at the rest of the crew from the middle, Georgia Officials Association, Jason Cooper, Freddie Stewart, Chuck Tidwell, Bobby Colson and Gary McPhail.
Officials have done a great job this weekend with all of our high school football games.
All star crews here, indeed, third down.
And two and a first down in the first first down conversion of the night for a wall.
You know, that's what I was looking for from this Walton offensive line to just get up and play by your body and just get it and try to just make a little scene, just to give the back just enough.
And there's some big horses out front that are doing the work there.
I'm proud of those guys.
Absolutely.
Well, the tackles, as we talked about, Gibson, 62 to 85, Pietro Cheese, a division one prospect at 63 to 75.
They've got some beef up front.
No doubt they will try to move folks off the line of scrimmage first and ten against Theobald on the opening drive.
Ray Rayburn was on the second drive and now number 11 be a ball back in there and they gave us to Jackson.
He is hemmed up though and going nowhere.
That bulldog defense all over Josh Van Horn number 21 with the stop.
And that play got blown up from the start.
Just because they stayed low, they penetrated that offensive line.
There was nowhere for them to go.
All you need is one guy to sit there and just cause havoc.
Basically what you're looking for now you just want to get people out of their rhythm.
And that's right now exactly what the Bulldogs are doing.
Van Horn came back from a broken foot as returned to the lineup.
A six £190 bulldog stand out there on defense second and 13 after a loss, and this time in and out of the hands of Scott Roam, the intended target third along once again.
North Gwinnett using that three five which can actually look like a team box.
They're bringing the pressure.
It's going to make it very difficult on these quarterbacks for Walton, the dual headed quarterback.
Absolutely.
Big number 97, North Gwinnett, Robert Pritchard, we saw number 94, Eric Everhart, the sack leader on this bulldog defense.
And they'll be coming after him this time, you can bet.
Third 30 trips nearside here ball with time will throw deep in the flat.
And that one knocked away Great job by Bryce Garrett or rather Jim.
Moreland in coverage for the Bulldogs.
It was intended for Garrett for the Raiders on fourth down once again and Walton really unable to find much of a rhythm offensively in there here in the first few series.
Well, that was one of the things that Coach Pryor talked about is like whatever team could get their tempo, their rhythm started with dictate the kind of rest of the game.
Richard Kemp once again in punt formation, can't averaging about 38 yards.
A punt has done well here.
Cordeiro Dixon returnable at his own 26.
Try to break it outside.
Got a little bit of a wall there and one or two guys to beat and couldn't quite get to the corner.
Good coverage there downfield by the Raiders.
Number 15, Tommy Ferguson, Rashard Dudley again his team winners of 12 in a row since that opening week loss to North Gwinnett, of course, lost to Norcross in round one of the state playoffs last year, 17 to 10.
But since then, only losing one football game first loss to central Gwinnett in 2005 in round two, they've been to the playoffs four straight years, as you see team bureau seven of 1085 yards and a touchdown already also has 12 yards on the ground left side driving Raiders trying to strip that football away on first down and not much there carry from double and currently double number 31 it was more of a bruiser type of back where Jerry will it's more of a pass receiver guy that you sort of slip out of the backfield there a little bit.
Credit Walton for not allowing that player to get to the outside wall.
Pretty much.
We're very well coached.
They stay at home.
The play as.
They know what they should be doing.
Second and eight, Jerry on the ground in the middle has a little bit of a seam right there and.
Delivers a hit at the tail end of that play up to the 48.
And that will be good enough for a first down, a gain of nine.
Jerry's numbers for the season 108 rushes for 631 yards, 5.8 average.
Yeah.
Basically what that means is when he puts his hands on the football, good things happen for this North Gwinnett offense.
Not only is he quick, he knows how to see a hole and he knows how to accelerate.
Three five, 11, 175 first and ten.
And I'll swing it out right here.
And that is double on the reception and we'll pick up about seven yards.
And right now, you know, we say that North Point, that's not really ball control, but in a way it is just through the passing game.
Well, they're putting a lot of pressure on that Walton defense, especially those corners, because they being able to get guys out in the flat and they want them to just be able to create things.
Once again, you pick up three, five, six yards at a time.
They will run the ball.
Inside a minute here in this first period, North Gwinnett, quickly up to the football.
That's a trademark of this offense.
They don't waste a lot of time quarterback draw.
Not much room there at all though.
Nice job by that raider deep in Scott Willock 25, the first guy there also number 34, David Paulson.
And the territory there will bring up a third down, third short right here for two total yards.
Walton just 19.
It's been all north Gwinnett 139 here in this first quarter.
And the Bulldogs may get one more snap off here.
Raiders fans want a big stop out of their defense.
And North Gwinnett will let it run on down.
So that'll do.
It after the first 12 minutes.
Of course, Gwinnett up, ten up and Tyler, Jerry.
With a huge first quarter.
For more on that, we go downstairs to John Nelson.
John.
We talked to Ed Dudley before the game.
He was concerned about Tyler Jerry.
They were going to play Where's Waldo?
So far it's been there's Waldo.
And the relationship between Tim Burrow and Jerry has been uncanny ever since eighth grade youth football.
When Jerry was the wideout, guess who lined up against him at corner Tim Burrow back upstairs.
All right.
Thanks, John.
The scoop right there, Jerry, again with a big first quarter and again, North Gwinnett with a pair of scores.
They lead at ten, nothing as we get set for the start of quarter two.
And you see Jerry and some of the moves that he's put on this Walt Raider defense early on, North Gwinnett still with the football right here, faced with a third and short Michael Tamburro out of the gun right here and a man in motion.
That's Cordero Dixon who had the touchdown catch in the first quarter.
Little option right here.
They keep it on the ground, Jerry, trying to turn it hit hard.
I'm going to be right at the first down marker.
I believe he's a little bit short.
Nice tackle there by Myles Freberg, the middle linebacker who came over there and made a good stop.
Freberg did a good thing.
He went down the line of scrimmage.
He read the play out.
He sniffed it out, as we said, and just makes a great tackle.
But we didn't get to see it like it was a nice Craig back on the end of that line, one of the dominant players, that's one of the things he's going to have to be aware of.
These guys are quick.
You don't know where they're going to be at any given time.
So a fourth down and a yard, but the Bulldogs lead with their offense on the field.
They'll go to the formation again.
It'll freeze play right here and Burrow will look over the sideline to see if the Bulldogs snap it.
And it looks like they will take a five yard penalty right here and.
The flag comes in there.
They were up at the line so quick as they usually are, they had to wait for the entire clock.
Their game offense now yard penalty for them.
Rusty Wynn, the head official here tonight.
So that will, if anything, give the Bulldogs a little bit more punting room.
The key for Walton right now, field position, field position, field position.
But that's something they haven't had.
They haven't had it.
If you look at my six numbers with the punch, they're a 33.3 average along a 48 for the senior who also handles the place kicking duties.
Had a 32 yard field goal in that first quarter high snap and he just got it out of there and I think will go into the end zone and once again out after 20 Walton's seven consecutive postseason appearances under Dudley, they really have to rebuild that offensive and defensive line.
But since then, that goal line has really become the heart and soul of this football team.
With those big losses up front, they got their work cut out for them.
Right now, they're facing a very stingy North Gwinnett front on defense.
And this is just gut check time for, you know, especially on the offensive line.
They know that they're working against a three, five, a very talented defense.
And they just have to like I said, it's gut check time.
Ray Rayburn, again, number five, back in at QB and once again, the two headed quarterback monster, if you will, the Raiders.
And they gave it to JJ Jackson up the gut and right into the teeth of that Bulldog defense for a couple of days.
You're talking about that two headed monster.
I can tell you, having played center and having been in the system where you had two quarterbacks, there's always a difference in Cadence and how each quarterback calls it, and that's a real challenge for Center.
So we give the center a lot of credit because you've got to figure that out because they're both going to be very different.
You see them.
Now.
Did they wear leather helmets back in?
Oh, I'm sorry.
You got to call this game.
Second down and eight right here.
Labor going to throw a pass deep in the.
Blank Allen clock rate.
Rabbi Billy Burns Burns somewhat quiet through that first quarter but.
A play right there.
Burns basically went up with the DB and wrestled that football away and picked up a first down.
Dave, you haven't called.
His name much, but the Burns is a very exciting player.
Just watch him go up.
It's mine.
Jump ball, come down and still have the presence of mind to figure out where he was on the field.
Pick up a couple extra yards as you like to talk about those.
Yeah.
Yards, the yards after the catch.
Once again, looking very talented, looking for what he can get.
Get more.
Get a few more.
Fantastic.
Jackson back on the ground right here.
Hatchell thought he might have had an interception on that last play, but it was taken away there a couple of yards on first down for Jackson.
And they momentum is the name of the game right now.
Walton seems to have it right now.
And if you can just pick up for three, four or five yards in the time, you can make you a couple of nice passes out there.
They can get I mean, they're not they're still in this ball game early on.
They could actually be more productive.
On the offensive side.
Which Bob Speier has been this year, is inspire.
And that's basically what the Bulldog Nation at Gwynedd has dubbed as the theme this year for this football team.
Quick hitter right there to Eskridge Road.
And that's his second grab here.
The first half, Jim Moreland brought him down defensively and it will bring up a third down in about two and a half.
And this is exactly my part of the ballgame I love so much.
That offensive line giving him the time to throw the football.
There's no pressure, takes the snap, gets the ball out quick, which makes offensive line look good, you know, because we work hard.
There you go.
You know, we pass work.
We are used to it.
Yeah.
Third down and.
Two right here.
Raiders on the ground.
Jackson makes a guy miss he will have the first down in North Gwinnett territory and now it's the Raiders who are on the move.
You know, we told Coach Dudley early and I asked him what was the difference between the first time they played.
And now he says that offensive line, they have really matured.
These guys are putting hats on.
People moving the ball down.
And that's exactly what Walt needs to do.
They got to move these chains.
Look at that nice group that like the big ugly so far.
But yeah ball just outside the 45 they're almost an Adam Shriner field goal range right here.
We'll talk about that in a moment.
But first, this first down play trips near side.
This is a Raider team that likes to run it first.
Oh, Eric Everhart nearly had a defensive lineman dream.
Come true.
Would have taken that one back the other way.
You just see the reaction on the North Bennett sideline.
He's going to hit this out tomorrow when he actually looks at film and realizes he had it right in his hand.
Boy, look, that's coming at you pretty quick, though, right there.
But that was caused by that pressure.
The North Wing that brings once again, they will blitz you at any given time.
They've got stunts and you've got to be able to see where those stunts are coming from.
Their pick a gap and they'll go very active.
These guys move around defensively.
So now second and ten, as you see the current drive, six plays, 35 yards, 338 off the clock.
Rayburn swings it out once again.
He's got to ask Woodrum and the Raiders doing a little West Coast look of their own right here, playing a little North BURNETT football.
This is a Raider team.
You know, as we talk about a run first, but they do throw the football.
We saw that last week and that drive that set up the game winning field goal over MLK in the quarter finals.
Again, Walton working from their own into the field through some deep sideline routes that got Shriner into field goal range and of course they edge in on 2219 and that's why they're here tonight.
Third for Jackson.
Left side hit you walk it the first down taken down hard by Jim Moreland who came up and laid a lick out.
Of the secondary.
And give that win to the defense once again, defense just scraping down the line and you can this is great.
He's seeing exactly what we're seeing.
And the bags goes to the outside.
You don't let him get to that corner.
You don't let him turn up and you wait on your help.
Well, we're going to find out how much confidence Coach Dudley has right here in his place kicker.
And he is out there right now.
This will be a.
56 yard field.
Goal attempt.
We watched him warm up a little bit.
This will be interesting.
Adam Strider.
13 of 18 on the year bad snap and the Bulldogs Eric Everhart with the play so we'll never know if at least on that drive how good the legs he's got in the dome here tonight.
Just look at it.
Low step and low got away.
Yeah.
Just a low snap.
And once again, he didn't even have a chance to get up and react because of the quickness of that bulldog defense.
Sometimes you got to take advantage of those little miscues.
Gives you a good, great chance.
Will not want it to get up.
Now they've got a little momentum.
Going back here inside the Georgia Dome.
Of course, high school football live on the air right here on GPB North Gwinnett ten to nothing over Walton as you see the score right there.
And again, the Raiders lining up for a long period of time, but of course, it never got off the ground there.
And now the ball back over on the line with us.
We have a very special guest.
You know, we've talked about Billy Burns and what he's meant to this year's football team.
We don't know if you've heard the story, but his older brother, Bobby Burns, is a sergeant in the US military stationed over in Schweinfurt, Germany.
Sergeant Burns, are you on the line with us?
Sergeant Burns, are you there?
We'll come back to Sergeant Burns here in just a second.
First, this first down play from the 47 by the Bulldogs fourth one out again up ten, nothing.
Michael Tamburro looking.
Long down the field.
He's got a man.
There out of bounds and they are going to give it to him.
At the 24 he got his feet in.
It looked like Cordero Dixon went up with that ball.
I'm not sure he was.
Going to come down and bound with it.
Well, they may have said he got pushed out.
So I think that was the call.
Yeah, I think that might be the call.
Take another look at it.
And that was the call.
He was shoved out by Robert Harrison.
And so the Bulldogs quickly into Raider territory here.
The Walton faithful not liking that call, but it's certainly understandable and in the middle and that is double the Raider faithful still arguing about that one.
But the officials of course, got the best seat in the House.
You know, if they ask me where that replay come from, let them know you had something to do with it.
That's why they're unhappy.
They got to see it again.
We'll join Sergeant Burns here in just a moment and talk more with him.
A very special story there.
We'll go into a little more detail here in a moment.
But North Gwinnett once again on the move, Tyler, Jerry with another carry.
And Jerry has been the workhorse for this North Gwinnett offense early.
What I liked about that particular play, when Jerry got the handoff, he took a couple of steps and you could just see him looking for the hole, trying to figure out where he was going to go.
That's the sign of a good back.
Always looking for a place to go.
Of course, the Bulldogs beating Newnan 3835 in a thriller last week in the quarterfinals, 414 yards of offense, three on the ground for this bulldog team.
So even though they do like to throw the football there, really, they've gotten as many first downs on the ground this year as they have through the passing game as we see this spot right here.
Did he get it?
And he did pass the length of the football right there, a first down and the Bulldogs keep it moving.
Just inside.
The Raider.
1526 North Gwinnett lost to Tip County in round three in the quarterfinals.
Of course, the Blue Devils here in the Georgia Dome taking on Roswell in the semifinals last year, 2005 North Gwinnett, with a round one loss to Parkview.
But I tell you what, this Bulldog program has gotten better and better to see the first as a North BURNETT rack up nine here in this first half already.
Jerry, again with a give over the right side will pick up one, maybe two.
You know, Dave, you actually made a reference earlier about ball control and that's not exactly, you know, north when game, but that's exactly what they're doing right now.
They're picking up small amounts of yards at the same time.
If there's a mascot that's a friend of yours, I've seen that guy with you somewhere.
Oh, man.
I tell you what, fans decked out here all this week, it is so great to see a lot of painted faces, a lot of banners here.
Second and eight they throw from the lefty is complete and Jerry out of bounds at the six pollen.
Karcher pushed him out on the near side.
And you take a look on the replay.
Here's the good thing.
You've got Olympia quarterback and he's rolling to his left.
It makes him a very easy throw, especially when you've got a great target like Jerry.
So a third down and short right here, third to coming up.
Big play offensively for North Gwinnett, big play defensively for the Walt Raiders.
They need to stop right here trying to keep it a ten point game.
Once again, the Bulldogs will spread it.
And Tambura on the Keeper dives inside the five and he's going to be close to the first down.
You know, we talk about Tamburro as a passer, but we saw his rushing numbers a while ago and he's certainly a guy you got to take serious if you're an opposing defense.
But the other thing is to man, because he can actually look he sees exactly what he wants and he knows how to go get it.
Timberwolves are very tough, but he's a very smart quarterback.
He manages the game well for folks, guys ballclub.
Coach Speier, of course, won a state championship in Kentucky and his team, apparently his old team is apparently playing tonight for a state championship.
Actually, we were talking to him today and he said, oh, hang on a second, I'm getting a text.
Apparently, I think maybe the game had gotten started.
It's pretty interesting.
And a little bit short there.
So a fourth down, up coming here, it looks like for the North Gwinnett offense.
And a quick reminder for you, fans with friends and relatives outside of Georgia, again, this game is available live via the Gp-B website at WW w dot GPB dot org back slash football.
From anywhere in the world.
You can watch this game right here tonight, so call up your relatives that are out of town there and tell them to tune on it.
Hey, this is what it's all about.
Right here, right down the middle of that line.
All Information and Tambura Bureau will sneak it straight ahead and still on his feet.
They're going to blow it dead right there.
And we'll see where they give him forward.
Progress.
It's going to be close, it looks like, from where they got it spotted right now.
He may have got it by maybe the length of the football, but we'll have to wait and see.
AJ Dudley looking on right here.
With the lollipop.
At the lollipop.
Coach Fire, both teams at 12 and one of course fourth.
That's lone loss this year was in the final week of the regular season against Norcross and it will be a first down.
So the Bulldogs will have first and goal right here five and a half to play here in the first half and up ten on the ground.
Jerry into the.
Middle driving towards the goal line.
Touchdown four yards on the cherry and the TD from Tyler Jerry makes it 16 nothing pending the patty you.
Know Jon Nelson told us earlier they were trying to play where's Waldo and you never know where Jerry is going to be.
Down by six.
We'll try to add the Pats right here.
Once again, Miocic handles both the kicking and punching duties for North Gwinnett, loading up heavy on the near side and it's right through there.
So 524 left here in the half and the Bulldogs are in control.
17 Nothing over the Walt Raiders.
But as we've seen throughout the weekend, the theme has been comebacks.
As you see, the North Gwinnett drive, eight plays, 53 yards and to 18 off the clock.
Of course, Jerry with the touchdown run right there.
But Walton, again, far from being out of this football game.
As we take a look at it's just basic football man on man Jerry does most of the work himself picks a hole, scores right across the end zone.
Take another look at it.
And he's sitting right into your living room, folks.
Here he comes.
Hello.
Just breaking the plane there of the goal line as you get a look at Jerry on the bench.
State championship set for.
Next Friday and Saturday, although we don't know who's going to be.
In the five game yet, but.
Quite a matchup next week.
Next Friday night it's the Northside Eagles at the we're a county gators in Waycross looking forward to that one 730 start time Friday Night Live right here on GPB.
And then of course Saturday night, the winner of this game taking on the winner of our nightcap between Lounge and Camden County was the championship next Saturday at 730 live here on GPB.
You know, Dave, one thing I was looking at a couple of teams that have played in the Dome so far, a lot of players with two way players.
These guys don't have a lot of folks going two ways.
In fact, they're hardly in this one.
Returnable Bryce Garrett, after a 20 year hit, stays on his feet.
The second, third effort will take it up to about the 23.
So it's Ed Dudley on the sideline trying to stay calm right here.
His team down.
Raiders with the football, though, trying to make it happen.
Here's JJ Jackson, who will pick up about four yards over the right side there.
Tom Martinez brought him down.
You know, this bulldog defense has thrown a couple of shutouts this year.
Of course, Walton with no shutouts.
Neither one of these defense, as you would think, necessarily would be overpowering.
But they do enough to win football games.
They have held folks under ten and 14 points all year long and their offenses have done the rest.
Oh, what you have is you got a lot of team speed and that's what makes up for it.
You don't have to be a powerful team if you're a quick team.
And we should point out too that the two regions these guys play in are pretty competitive when you consider Walton's Region six being the chance to force fourth one out and Region seven having played Brookwood twice and not much there for the Raiders at all.
Of course, North Gwinnett in here at 12 and one, but the number two seed out of Region seven, of course, that loss to Norcross of the final week of the regular season actually put the Bulldogs at number two so they're not really eligible to host a possible state championship game.
But nonetheless, that's not going to deter them from trying to at least make it to the game wherever it may.
Be, wherever it may be.
And you know what?
That's why you do what you do.
You had all that down.
I was sitting here missing.
I'm so proud of you.
Third down and five right here.
And you see the movement across the front end.
This time here, ball will go down and there's that rush you were talking about in the movement on that.
And look, when a defense is.
A give me give it up, give it up.
You know, the thing about it is that is a very tough defense.
At three five, you never know exactly how many folks are going to be in the box.
Pressure's coming from anywhere.
And they just actually the offensive linemen just got beat.
They just pushed them a shot, pushed them aside, a loca.
And you're the first guy there.
And Eric Everhart finished them off.
So fourth and 13.
Eberhardt is a player.
I know you keep making a reference to that.
He's a great player.
Kent gets it off Good rush there by the Bulldogs Cordeiro Dixon returnable at midfield reverses field stood up and a nice job by the Raiders and a late flag comes flying in there as well.
Scott Willock With the stop there.
Dixon Just into Raider territory at the 49, but let's check the penalty marker which Bob Speier already sending him to play.
And this one going to be on North Green.
And so that'll back the Bulldogs up a little bit right here.
Here is Rusty Wynn, the head official with the goal.
During the return.
We have a clip blocking below the waist.
Here's the receiving team.
15 yard penalty first half.
That's a big one right there.
When you start talking about championship football and just football games in general, it's the team that makes the less mistakes, the least amount of mistakes, and it doesn't turn the ball over.
It normally has a great chance of winning the ballgame.
This they got to make sure that they don't have that many turnovers.
North went out with a plus eight turnover ratio on the year as getting it done.
Meanwhile, the Walton Raiders have been very opportunistic as well.
13 points in the fourth quarter last week blocked a patty and that ultimately ended up being the difference stat and of course the Adam Shriner 36 yard field goal, Cordeiro Dixon on the receiving end of another Mikey Tambura passed and Burrow rated by some publications as the top top junior prospect in the state of Georgia.
Well, one of the things that once again, he has very good technique.
You can tell that someone has worked with him along the way, his feet.
If you ever watch him, his feet never cross, you know, and that's a sign of a good quarterback.
It's almost like he's got tapping feet all the time.
Second and three, it's time to work out the shotgun little quarterback droplet right here.
First down yardage and into Raider territory.
About another flag down back at the 45 and this one might be coming back you might notice on that North Gwinnett offense that the players wear wristbands because again, they go no huddle.
The plays do come in from the sideline.
Holding offense, ten yard penalty.
Check it out.
We're talking with Coach Bob Speier.
He mentioned that sometimes he will turn it over to Tamburro and let him call plays a little bit just to get him more into the flow of things.
And that also gives him a lot of confidence that his coach would allow him to do that.
And the four coaches says, I trust this guy.
He understands how to run my system, how to run my plays.
And it definitely says a lot for this program.
Right.
And you saw the card right there on Tambor's arm.
He could look down, they could circle it in and really move the tempo.
They use about three or four different tempo as a game offensively through the Bulldogs and another quarterback draw right here.
Straight ahead on second and 11, Tambor will pick up a few yards right there.
And meanwhile, Walton defensively of course, getting it done this year, they've only given up 211 total points, 16.2 average.
We talk about Chase Thomas.
He is the school's all time leader in sacks and has certainly done an excellent job there, of course, number 99 on that Walton defense.
And he's also the guy is the sparkplug for that defensive line.
He kind of gets those guys motivated.
And as he goes, they go.
Along the line with us.
Right now, we have a very special guest, Sergeant Bobby Burns, the older brother of Walton Raider, Billy Burns.
Sergeant, are you there?
I'm here.
How are you guys doing?
We're doing great.
How are you doing?
I'm doing good.
It's a little bit cold and wet in Germany, but I'm good.
Oh, man.
And Schweinfurt, Germany, is that correct?
That's right.
Right.
And you are watching this game live via the Internet.
So no, I'm not watching it.
Actually, we don't have the Internet access.
I was still an update from from my uncle who works in radio in Atlanta.
So but well, there you go.
There you go.
The plug there for our 9 a.m. colleague there.
And of course to say as well there and well we'll send a shout out there to Uncle Bo, but we certainly welcome you here tonight, of course, over in Germany.
But talk about last week, from what we understand, you.
Came home.
For that quarterfinal game against MLK to watch your younger brother Bailey play football.
Yeah, I decided probably two days before that game that I need to get home and see game because I'd never seen him play a game before in in high school.
So I didn't want them to, you know, something happened and not not be able to see a game.
However, if they do, if they win today, I fly home next Saturday for good when I get out of the office and that's the day, that's the state championship.
So I've got to make that.
Absolutely.
Well, let's talk a little bit about your military service.
You know, I guess you were almost 25 years old when you enlisted, a win win.
And why did you join the U.S. Army?
It was it was just basically watching the news and seeing all these guys my age doing doing that kind of stuff.
I couldn't think of any reason why I shouldn't do it, especially with everything that was going on in the world.
And, you know, obviously, I was a capable but capable person, you know, in good shape to go to go do that kind of stuff and better than just, you know, sitting at home working a normal job.
So you get to look at the for our viewers, Billy Burns right there at number 45 for Walton.
And I guess basically a 911 was really the turning point, I guess, for you and your decision making and wanting to join the military, is that correct?
Yeah, pretty much.
I waited about a year after that, but.
But pretty much you.
Of course, you were in the cavalry scout, two tours of duty in Iraq.
And talk a little bit about some of the things and some of your experiences and some of the things that you did as far as your responsibilities in the Army.
Oh, I did.
I did.
12 months, you know, a city couple.
That was back in 2004.
I just got back from 15 months in Ramadi, that Ramadi was arguably the worst place in Iraq, probably other than Baghdad.
And within five months, about five months of us being there, we had turned around to, you know, there was there really wasn't a whole lot going on there, to be honest with you.
Right.
The last half of of our tour this time.
But we basically we did a typical infantry type job.
Everybody over there pretty much ends up doing the same thing.
I mean, we're scouts, we're supposed to do surveillance.
But what it comes down to is over in Iraq, you just you know, you do whatever the environment calls for you to do.
So we're doing you know, we do the we raid the houses and we drive around, you know, looking for cache, weapons caches, you know, you name it.
We do all that stuff is almost what it is.
Intercepted a pass, Sergeant Burns.
Well, right now it's no fun.
At 17, nothing overall, but still plenty of football left there.
And hopefully the Raiders can turn it around.
Maybe you can make that trip there.
But regardless, we certainly want to welcome you back and we can't wait to see.
We certainly as Americans appreciate your your fine work and our U.S. military and certainly want to say hi to all the brave men and women in uniform.
And we certainly thank you for being with us here tonight.
Anything you want to say before we go here tonight?
No, I appreciate it.
And I really hope Walton can can turn this around in the second half.
I want to I want to be there for the state game next week.
All right.
There you go.
Sergeant Bobby Burns joining us from Schweinfurt, Germany.
Sergeant, thanks for being with us.
And no problem safely.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Sergeant Bobby Burns joining us right here live on the air here at GPB.
A nice touch, of course.
The Bulldogs punting while ago to the Walton Raiders.
But of course, Walton with the the interception there, the bulldog defense with the turnover.
And now 39 seconds left on the clock here.
And of course, just an emotional week really for the Browns family.
North Gwinnett, they have two time outstanding bulldogs in.
Their first time out with 39 seconds left, trying to put up some more points here before the half.
But great job there.
And we certainly want to welcome us, Sergeant Burns, for joining us here tonight.
And I certainly wish him a safe return home.
So, you know, it's kind of nice that we can do these kind of things, you know, to be able to hook up halfway around the world, the guys, brothers on the field playing and he's out serving the country.
And you did a great job with the interview.
Well, thank you.
Well, of course, later on tonight, the nightcap game, ten of ten right here on GPB It's Loud and Camden County, the other half of this five eight equation.
And from what we understand, one of those two teams will be hosting the state championship with the way the brackets are falling.
Of course North Gwinnett as a two seed there, and even with a walk and win, it looks like the Raiders would have to go on the road to South Georgia.
And we'll talk a little bit more about that later on in the evening.
But right now, that Raider Deep is trying to come up with a big stop and stay in this football game.
Meanwhile, North Gwinnett, we're going to see what they've got here with 39 seconds.
They still have two timeouts.
And there's North Gwinnett and they run.
That type of offense is spread offense.
There's no tail.
And Mike, Tim Barrow is basically a magician with the football.
Information this time.
Straight ahead, Tyler, Jerry, a little quick hitter right there trying to find a seam, but the Raiders did a nice job of closing it in there in the middle and north, Gwinnett will burn their second timeout with 35 seconds left out.
North corner and one remaining timeout.
Walton has two remaining timeout the Bulldogs.
This is the second time tonight that they've played a team twice this season.
Of course they defeated Walton in week one and beat fellow region team a Brookwood, if you will, area team there twice, of course, did it during the regular season, 22 to 21, came back in round two of the playoffs and really hammered away at the Broncos their 117 to 3 Yoshimura with two touchdown receptions in that ballgame and Tambura really running the offense to precision you know I guess he's he's more of a doctor if you will you know, just operating out there on that football field against opposing defenses all year long.
But when you've got a guy that that's and he can also stand in the pocket, he also can get around in that pocket.
He's he's basically as I said, he's a coach on the field.
He sees a lot.
Well, we caught up with coach Ed Dudley earlier and we asked him what was special about this year's Raider football team.
For us, this season has been outstanding because of our senior class.
We talked about the two key ingredients of high school football in August.
We said it was team chemistry and team speed and we feel like we've got a little of both.
Our seniors have been great, tremendous leadership.
They get along well and really easy to coach, and I think that's what's made it special for us.
That's Dudley coaching a good one.
Football team here, sports Gwinnett diving towards the end zone and out of the one as Tambor.
Oh.
Robert Harrison pushed him out.
And now all of a sudden, the complexion.
This drive has changed tremendously with 24 seconds left and Auburn, that still has one timeout right here.
So an interesting situation as the Bulldogs try to tack on another score right here before the half.
But you know, this one football team coach Ed Dudley's been around, as we mentioned, seven consecutive postseason appearances under Dudley, a great coaching staff and a good group of guys.
And the Raiders have traditionally been good teams out of top guys.
The team bureau.
Walton them one remaining time out north Gwinnett has one remaining time out they you know what an advantage it is to.
Have a quarterback that has a strong arm first.
He can throw the short pass, he can throw the deep ball, then he's got quick feet and he's smart.
I mean, come on.
Every coach would love to have that kind of quarterback.
And Sam Bureau definitely is very good.
Coach Bob Speier, we also asked him earlier what was special about this year's Bulldog Club.
Well, I think as a group, collectively, the staff and the players have really worked well together, prepare each week and in a way that we've been able to just during the course of games, we've got quite a bit that we do on both sides of the ball so that we've been very, very versatile and have been able to compete against a wide range of, you know, teams that come in with different variety of attacks, you know, it's just all fit together.
Well, offensively, when we needed to play well and the defense was strong and we've done that defensively when we need to play well on the offense, we're struggling, we've done that.
And the kicking game has been really, really all year.
We've got a great Pickering, Kyle.
I think we've long has a 52 yard field goal, but he's very, very consistent round kicking and punching.
So kicking out of the shotgun tambora fires that ball tipped and knocked away at the last second the intended target number 11 Kenny Barnes the tight end there but one of the raiders got up on it looked like maybe Corey Blackburn, perhaps one of those big linemen or linebackers reached in there and knocked away as Miles Freberg.
It looked like maybe number 89.
He was in the area, as you see, Tampa, those first half numbers, 12 of 16, 147 yards and a touchdown, eight rushes as well for some good yardage.
20 seconds left.
The Bulldogs could run the football right here with one timeout and Jerry Rice out.
Into the end zone.
Touchdown Tyler Jerry from a yard out with 60 seconds on the clock.
The second rushing touchdown of the night for Tyler.
Jerry Great execution by this offensive line on that right side they got down they got under and you see white shirts going backwards The O-line did their job.
And offensive line of course Thomas Lapointe, shepherd dog in hand all those guys really getting it done across the front here in this first half.
Kyle McKissic to tack on the patty.
And just inside the right upright he puts it through their 24 nothing to score and hawks when it belongs over the wall raiders here in the first half but.
Considering what we've seen as we've mentioned here over the weekend, that's really not that big a lead.
But once again, take a look at the touchdown.
See all the defenders going backwards.
And once again, this is a very talented offensive bulldog football team.
They make a lot of good happen.
And that's a very talented young man, as you see the scoring drive there, 37 seconds, five plays and 47 yards.
Set up by the interception by that bulldog defense.
You talk about the offense for North Gwinnett, but their defense very opportunistic and round one of the postseason three defensive touchdowns in that game as they shut out Marietta 40 for nothing and of course followed that up with a big win over Brookwood and against Newnan.
They're 38, 35 and the quarterfinals, Walton, of course, with a big round one win over Parkview 3120.
JJ Jackson has been basically at about 200 yards rushing in every playoff this year is certainly had a great season as you see the North Gwinnett Bulldogs first half possessions field goal touchdown punt touchdown punt touchdown.
So four of the six have resulted in points.
I won't have to go to the locker room at halftime, make a few adjustments and come out the back in it by spirit.
On the return hit and taken down at the 23 Markel stop with 11 seconds left, Walton does have one time out.
What a long way to go right here.
Well, as we talked to coach Ed Dudley earlier, man, this coach who understands what he has, he's got a great team.
He'll get those guys together at halftime.
They'll rally you.
And I've seen some great games in this dome this weekend from the halftime to the final.
It's a whole different ball game.
A full slate yesterday and of course, another full rundown here today.
A lot of great games.
Certainly want to congratulate all of our winners who are moving on to the state championships next weekend.
And the Raiders will take a knee and that'll do it for the first half.
Braden Theobald, the quarterback.
And as the time runs off the clock here inside the Georgia Dome, Saturday night high school football here in Atlanta.
And as the North Gwinnett Bulldogs up 24, nothing over the Walton Raiders.
Walton clearing the banner for Cobb.
County here in the postseason.
But Auburn dogs in that first half North Gwinnett, basically anything they wanted to do offensively.
That was really the theme.
Well, as we talked about it at the top of the show is all about tempo.
There you go.
Let's throw it downstairs to John Nelson.
Here with the coach.
Obviously, you told your team, your offense when they were ten, nothing that you needed a good drive.
They got you want to make it 17 they gave you one more for good measure, John.
We got to keep the pedal to the metal.
Walton is a great football team.
They're really well coached.
You know, and that's just the way we play, you know, just we just got to keep the pedal to the metal, keep driving on the other side of the ball.
Defense is creating fits for them.
Offensively, you're putting eight in the box and stopping the run.
Pretty hard defense.
Got to keep flying around now.
They got to keep making plays in the secondary like.
They did there late in the game in the half.
And and, you know, we we got to come out and just do what we do and you're going to do what you do.
Go into halftime.
Thanks for your time, coach.
Let's send it back up.
24, nothing north Gwinnett at the halftime now the battle of the bands and first up from Walton High School as the marching raider band Mike back the band director 210 members drawing with their performance title Close to the Edge.
Let's listen in.
For four rounds.
We great job on that marching raider band.
In big numbers here tonight.
Let's throw it down the sideline.
John Nelson standing by with the gas john.
It was band director Mike back from Walton.
You know, I hear this music and I just feel really old.
It's yes, I love it.
How did you come across as, hey, I've got a great new band.
It's called Yes.
Did you come up with this routine?
Well, as we talk to the kids about doing this show and they really like the music a lot, their parents like it a lot, too, of course, because their parents can remember the music from many years ago.
You had to say many years ago, didn't you?
How much blood, sweat and tears to put a routine like this together does it take because you're talking about a lot of different elements we're seeing out there.
There's a lot of hours.
We start back in the middle of July and worked really hard to the summer and then, of course, all fall a lot of hours to put something like this together on the field.
What's it like to be back under the big top?
It's been a couple years.
What's it like?
Well, it's a lot of fun.
The kids are just really, really excited and it's a lot of excitement in the school.
So it's a lot of fun for us to be here for sure.
Do you guys feel the same kind of pressure that the athletes do when they come to the dome?
Is that same kind of nervousness, do you think?
Well, maybe not the same, but there's certain, you know, we want to do the best job that we can to for the dome audience and for the television audience.
So there's a little bit of pressure there, too.
Is there a routine that you've ever wanted to do that you haven't had the chance to do that you'd like to do with Walt?
Well, I'm not sure.
Maybe next year's show will be that.
I'm not sure yet.
Yeah.
We'll talk about all of this stuff and all of these different elements.
You don't necessarily see synthesizers a lot.
You don't necessarily see a lot of the wind socks.
I mean, we're talking about coordination.
A little earlier, but kind of go into this and I guess you have to break it down individually like offensive coordinators do, or how does it go?
Well, sure.
Each of our segments, the percussion and the guard and the weapons practice separately and work on their own part of the show.
And then we spend a lot of time putting it together in rehearsal together and try to get everything coordinated.
But they do spend a lot of time on their own, working on their own individual parts.
Mike back, thanks for your time.
Thanks for hanging out with us here at the Georgia Dome.
One man down, one to go.
What's in.
It?
Back upstairs.
For me.
All right.
Thank you, John.
The Marching Raider Band doing an excellent job.
Well, go ahead, step aside and be right back with band number two.
Is The Battle of the Bands continues.
Here inside the Georgia Dome.
We're back with more in a moment.
At halftime here outside the Georgia Dome, north, Gwinnett up 24, nothing over Walton.
As we turn our attention back to the field, the North Gwinnett High School Band with band directors Brian Lamberth and married English 160 members strong with their performance title Marching Through the Years 50 Years of North Gwinnett.
Let's listen to everyone sign up for the freestyle.
Okay, you ready to go?
What makes the North Gwinnett High School band rocking the house here tonight?
Let's go back downstairs to John Nelson with gas.
John.
Here we go with Brian Lamberth, band director, 50 years of North Gwinnett.
How did you come up with the numbers specifically for the routine?
How did you choose them?
Well, our P.A.
announcer was the Florida State grad last spring when we were trying to figure out the types of concepts at the show.
So why don't we put a combination of songs together to represent this year's Time Restraints?
Let US Out.
We left two songs off this evening, a Beatles song and Tom Wolfe for the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
And we were really excited about playing something for 50 years as a community.
And shows the Bush administration and the head coach and the hope everybody involved with it.
What's it been like this week for North Gwinnett and the band and everybody coming here the first time for the kids?
First time for me, we had 100% attendance with all rehearsals this week and a lot of the same attendance today.
And I couldn't be more excited for these kids and especially the middle school.
Band directors Hunter McRae and Mary Wilson, who started every one of these kids and gave them a great foundation for this band.
Right.
Lana, thanks for your time.
North Gwinnett two down, sent back upstairs as tracked down another coach.
All right.
The battle of the bands completed here inside the Georgia Dome.
Let's go ahead.
Take a look back at the first half highlights and a lot of action in this one, especially from North Gwinnett Bureau, hooking up with Jason Yoshimura for a 35 yard gain.
And that was set up the first points of the night, a 32 yard field goal off the leg of Kyle, three nothing north Gwinnett with 818 left in the opening quarter.
Then Tyler Jarrett right here on a couple of receptions.
And he was certainly a standout player in the first half, you know.
Watching him just before my here, we talked about having this guy be able to make the plays that he'd make.
And Tim Barrow, once again, you see him rolling out.
And finding Cordero Dixon right there for the touchdown.
It was ten nothing later on second quarter Jared back in the mix with a pair of touchdowns a first making it 17 nothing in the second right there making it 24 nothing north Gwinnett.
They're going to look at the numbers from the first half, 147 passing yards right there for the Bulldogs, 111 rushing.
Meanwhile, just 39 yards for the Walt Raiders in that first half.
And one turnover which did lead to that last Bulldog score there, time of possession you see it north but actually leading by a couple of minutes.
That's sort of uncharacteristic of their quick strike offense.
And you see jars, numbers ten rushes, 44 yards and two touchdowns.
Let's go ahead.
Throw it back downstairs.
John Nelson standing by.
John here with Coach Dudley.
What'd you tell him in half?
Well, we just told we're not going home early no matter what.
We played terribly.
In the first half.
We'll come here, try to make one play in the second half, we make one now.
We're going to try and go two to.
If we make two, we want to go to three.
But we got to still we didn't even get off the bus in the first half nor play great.
We didn't.
We got to come back loose on this half and thanks for your time.
But first, he's going to try and fix it in the second, send it back upstairs for the next 24 minutes.
All right.
Thank you, John.
Again, 24 now playing our score, but still plenty of football left here tonight.
The Bulldogs.
Are.
Up.
The Raiders are in their house.
We will kick off the second half when we return.
Live to the Georgia Dome right here on GPB Sports.
When that Bulldogs lead it 24 nothing over the wall and Raiders as we get set for the start of the second half in taking a look back at some of the Walton first half possessions, again, they have struggled offensively.
They're going to have to find ways to turn it around right here as we see what they did in the first half.
Basically all punts turn it over on downs there.
And you also see the yardage negative three on one drive.
Of course, an interception and of course, the a break right there.
So not a lot of production.
And you know, we talked about Adam Shriner and what he's meant to this team as the a place kicker throughout the playoffs.
But they got to get across the 50 before they can even get into his range.
Well, you know, Coach Dooley was saying back when these guys played early in the year, it's like North Gwinnett held them to 45 yards on total offense.
So this is something that he definitely wanted to address today.
And once again, we got a whole half of football to go.
So I'm sure he went in and at halftime they made the necessary adjustments.
But this North Georgia bulldog offense, I don't know what kind of adjustment you make.
I mean, it's been a long time since I played.
Okay.
All I can tell you is they got a lot of multiple formations.
They do a lot of different things.
They got a great guy call in signals.
But you still got it in you, though, you know what I mean?
You're a ballplayer.
You've still you.
Know, you need I guess.
They're still competitive.
I can tell you.
I can get the three points then I can't get out.
You can get in it.
There you go.
You just can't get out anymore.
I like that.
Oh, thank you very much.
I like that.
What will kick it off here to open up this second half?
And it is returnable for the Bulldogs that is Jared out across the 20 that hit hard and dropped right there at the 23.
So North Gwinnett will go back on offense.
Michael Tamburro an excellent first half, of course.
He is the Gwinnett County School record holder for completions at 182.
This series you see his numbers in the first half, 147 yards off, a 12 of 16 a touchdown.
And of course, also got it done with his legs there a, little bit 58 yards on eight rushes, also ranks 11th for season yards and 12th for single game yardage.
And the Gwinnett County record book as a passer for this North Gwinnett Bulldog team he'll start out of the shotgun, finds the man and down the seam complete and out to the 40 and just like that, the tight end.
Kenny Barnes has that bulldog offense picking up where they left off.
And what a confidence boost to be able to come out first, play the second half and be able to find that.
And I mean, not just throw the ball.
He rifled the ball.
We see from behind him.
This is what it looks like if I'm throwing that football, even though he gets tagged, really well to Michael, Tim, Tom Burrow.
I'm sorry.
I knew I was going to get that missed.
It is an excellent quarterback.
Play good for 17 yards first down at the 40 wins up top and again this time double straight ahead over the left side there.
Pick up a couple of yards and we'll call it second and eight and we're talking about Billy Burns in the first half, of course, his older brother, Bobby, serving as a sergeant in the U.S. military.
Billy, of course, the center fielder and leadoff hitter on, that state championship baseball team for Walter, lot of second and third on a two and three seaboard athletes out there, you see Burns right there and coach Ed Dudley right there looking on his defense, needing a big stop, second down and seven.
Campbell looking to throw the football, has a man again open out there trying to keep his feet is double he stays up picks up a couple but a nice play there by Bryce Garrett who up ended him at the 45/3 down and five.
Take a look at that was a terrific play defensively to be able to come back you back you see it and you start to just make the play and this is what this defense has to do.
They've got to keep playing.
They can't give up at this point.
Absolutely.
What we saw last night working half a couple of different circumstances where teams with big leads were unable to hang on.
Great comebacks yesterday.
Two or three possessions down were able to come back and score here on this Georgia Dome turf.
This is a Walt Raider team.
Certainly good enough.
And doing.
That, Jerry, on the reception, it will have the first down just across.
Midfield at the Raider 48 half Robert Harrison on the play defensively right here in the frame.
Harrison of course was the guy who blocked the EPA last week against MLK in the quarterfinals with a little over a minute to go.
And that set the stage for a Raider comeback in that football game timbre, of course, with a great first half as we talk about Jerry, of course, the running back, ten rushes, 44 yards, two touchdowns, and of course, that's tonight, first and ten on the ground, double again on the carry, will pick up a few yards.
And that's a good defensive stop for the Raiders just to be able to.
They loaded up about four or five six in the box and just to be able to kind of slow them down because I don't know if you really stop an offense like Northmen this I think you have to slow it down.
You got to pick your poison.
Are we going to try to stop the run?
We'll stop the pass because these guys have such a multiple formations with their offense.
And talking to Coach Dudley before the game tonight, he knew that North Gwinnett would get their yards.
I mean, there's really no stopping an offense like this, but felt like they had to contain him a little bit.
Just try to keep it, of course.
Football game and who knows what can happen here second down and six right now for the Bulldogs ball at the Raider 45 formation.
This time Bam Burrow throws it out Swivel once again he's got the first down and more cutback and down to the 30 Ferguson again on the stop along with the host of other raiders, but not before another host, Gwinnett first down in this drive reminiscent of the opening drive and the first couple of drives for the Bulldogs in this football game.
And speaking of drives, this will drive a defense crazy.
I mean to be able to get there in his face, but low pressure on them but he is so good with the football.
Tim Brewer, he just spins around, he just dumps the pass out and they just continue to pick up yards.
And like I said this has to be a little frustrating for that defense.
They're not playing bad.
It's just that North Wind has got so much going on offensively.
Currently double the number 31, this time on the ground, dry right side.
I'll take it down to the 25.
A gain of five versus the fourth meeting all time between the two schools they met earlier this year.
Of course, in week one last year during the regular season, it was Morris Bennett winning 27 to 16 and the first meeting back in 2004.
Walton won that one by ten at round two of the state playoffs.
So these two familiar with each other over the last few years and of course, playing in the first week of the season this year.
And a lot has changed.
Of course, North BURNETT won that game 2116, but both coaches really feel like their team's improved since that point.
Well, what they did, they both coaches had said this, that both teams now have more of a balance offensive difference that they had.
Second and six so bootleg right here that burrow able to get away from the pressure pump fake now hit and drop great open field look right by number 30 Zach Hogue one of those linebackers flies around making a play.
And Dave is just good to see that Walton is providing that pressure timbre in.
Like I say, he's rolling left.
He's trying to look for somebody.
But the thing is, they're actually got good coverage downfield and comes up with a great sack.
And I mean, to take him down, especially with the quickness that he has to feet.
And fight off the block right there from double six foot £295.
HOGG has three sacks this year for that Raider defense, and it'll force a third down and four upcoming.
You know, a lot of quick passes here tonight by North Gwinnett and that is sort of capped the ball in front off of Tambor a little bit as we talked about Chase Thomas and those 15 sacks or so that he's put up this year.
But again, they've sort of taken that element out of the ballgame by getting rid of the football.
Well, that's what they want to do.
They want to throw you out of a rhythm, not even let you get into anything.
And just inside the 20.
And that'll be close to a first down right there on the carry jar again with a big first half has picked it up here.
David Paulson along the front for Walt with the stop and it looks like they will bring out the chains for a measurement.
It's been 40 years since a team from Cobb County has won a state championship.
Back with Marietta, 1967.
Walton trying turn a corner here tonight and get Cobb County back on the championship map.
Of course, McEachern advanced to the state title game a few years back down Valdosta, but fell short.
And they certainly beat some good teams out of Cobb County over the years.
But so far it's been all north.
But out here tonight, with 650 left in this third period first and ten tomorrow reversing throwing end zone.
Touchdown Tyler Jarry on the receiving end of a 20 yard touchdown and catch.
The third touchdown of the night.
The Jared injury is just a double threat.
Well, you know whether he's catching the football running the football is very talented kid and it just continues to just add pressure and pain to that defense of Walton.
30 impending vp8 from Kyle McKissic, who has been perfect here on the night McKissic eight of 12 on field goals along a 52 And he knocks it right through there 638 to play.
Third period 31 nothing the Northwest Bulldogs over the wall.
The Raiders will step aside and be right back.
More from the Georgia Dome when we return.
As the first 2 to 5 semifinals rolls on here tonight.
There you see the story tonight.
All north Gwinnett Bulldogs in the first of two fiery finals on the night and that last drive picture perfect for the Bulldogs and really getting it done.
A good mix of run plays along with pass plays and of course the big boy, a 20 yard touchdown pass catch from Mike Tamburro to Tyler Jeffries.
You see the drive there, 10.77 yards, just over 5 minutes.
So a long drive time Wilcox for North Gwinnett.
And that's the big number, the 517.
They took that off the clock and that's not helping what was calls it.
All right now.
A lot of big plays, of course, on that drive, as you see the bulldog faithful in the house right here.
And taking a look for his tambura a reversing field right here thrown up top to Joffrey who got behind the secondary there and beat the safety into the end zone.
Guys, third touchdown of the night two on the ground, one as a pass catcher and North Gwinnett continues to roll on.
So Walton's going.
To try to answer the bell right here, 638 to go in his third period, we've seen some crazy things.
Happen.
And once again, another kick off by Kyle McKissic out of the end zone there.
Billy Burns back deep but appeared of two yards back in the end zone.
And so once again Walton out of the 20 Phil the Raiders really just not a whole lot of field position here tonight.
Well, I was just getting ready to say my stick is a weapon in himself.
I mean, he's sitting there and he's kicking the ball right to the goal line and into the, you know, the end zone, just like he's not giving them an opportunity and they come out to the 20.
But because of that, I still say that three five is such a difficult defense to run against and to pass against.
They just can't get a lot of production.
First of ten to receivers up top Brady Field Ball is JJ Jackson, who's been somewhat quiet here tonight.
That's all because of those red hat's over on defense Tom Martinez with a stop and Jackson for the most part has been him.
Dame You know, we talked about JJ Jackson, what he's made, of course, at 186 yards rushing in round one against Parkview, over 200 yards in that win over Harrison 3728.
There you could look at Theo Ball's numbers on the other night, seven of 12, not bad, but just unable to really get those first downs.
They've been in a lot of third and long situations.
You're second and eight.
You see what the Bulldogs are doing, drop it some bring in some catch by burns up across the 25 and Billy Burns really the big play guys the the guy on special teams.
No he's at receiver you climb up in the backfield at first he plays defense is just a good all around football player.
Of the ball coming right at you makes a great throw and Billy Burns makes a great kid.
Dustin Paschall once again over there in coverage in that play kind of like what we saw in the first half down on the other end where Burns went up and made the catch in front of Hatcher.
And Walt may have to do that.
They may need to start throwing some real quick passes.
Third and three right here.
They'll keep it on the ground.
Jackson hit and dropped shy of the marker by about a yard will be fourth and one.
And that's just call good tough stay at home defense and.
And the raiders will bring on the punt team 28 points the most allowed by the Walt Raiders throughout the season that was in round two but of course 31 here tonight, a powerful force for that offense and they will get the football back right here.
450 and counting here in the third quarter.
Fake outside first down Dylan chant the up back.
Around the far side there and he will pick up the first down it Hey, why not 440 left in the third period?
The Raiders have nothing to lose here.
We take a.
Look at it again.
Fake punt, a little trickery, his brakes to the outside.
All you trying to do to get to that marker first down.
Take a look at it again.
And this might be just what you need right here.
Just a momentum shift there.
And the momentum builder now, they can take it.
They got decent field position give Walton an opportunity to be productive.
Good cell there by Richard Camp the punter as well And now Theobald looking to throw the football pass passive time swings it out That pass sails over the head of burns It'll be second and ten Looks like that ball just got away from him there a little bit and you have all the starter again rotating with Ray Rayburn.
I was going to say you just go look credit to to that secondary I mean they just covered up the receivers.
Look at the Bulldogs sideline they're northmen trying to punch their ticket to that five eight state championship game next Saturday night.
We'll have it for you live.
Right here on GPB.
Good show.
The band's fired up.
And of course, later on here tonight, the second half of the five eight puzzle as clowns in Camden County go at it, and a series that's materialized into quite a good postseason robbery.
Fireball swings it out Got a man complete up the 45 try to strip away the air that was that's the drone on the reception Kyra Esper drone five £269 there.
Take a look at the replay.
And this wasn't bad because they had trips left be able to throw into the boundary and once again just be able to take those short passes five, six three yards at a time.
By Chris Willis.
And at last play there defensively.
And third down and five right here noise inside the Georgia Dome That fourth Gwinnett defense trying to make a stop the wall in offense trying to convert.
Another first down.
They'll have to get to the bulldog 49 here ball throwing it up top has a man there just beyond the outstretched arms of Billy Burns.
A little outing up right there and the ball just over.
Threw it just a tad there.
Van Horn on the coverage it burns had a step.
And they once again we talk about that bulldog pressure.
You start off with three down and all of a sudden you start walking up the linebacker, you walk up a corner.
He just lands.
On the has a ten yard penalty third down.
Late flag in there away from the ball and look first down.
And so a first down right there for Walton and that extends the Raider drives to a break.
And of course, the Raiders need all they can get right now at this point in the football game.
Well, you know what?
And that's a good thing at point.
I mean, they hadn't had great field position all night.
And this gives them an opportunity now to start to execute their plays.
One thing we haven't seen won't do really take a lot of shots deep down the field.
That was really one of the first times here tonight.
And take another look at it through the offensive line.
Those guys really getting it done up front.
They're giving them time to throw the football.
Gibson, Petrocelli, the tackles, as we talked about, the three division one prospect here, Francis Kelly Gilbert there's burns on the reception inside the 35 as the helmet comes flying off and you can hear that pop upstairs.
I was going to say I heard that up here.
That's good.
Solid football is good.
He got up, put it back on.
Vest and hats off.
Number one, losing the head gear there and that was a collision.
BURNS Not a big guy.
You know, we talked about him only being around £100 or so, but he plays a lot bigger than that.
And that was a collision.
Boy, you could hear the pop one that was first.
And did Raiders pick up another first down?
They're on the move by far their best drive of the night, aided by that penalty that's just outside the Bulldog 35 ball.
Again, look at the throw under pressure, trying to get rid of it.
Nowhere to go with the football.
May have picked up a yard happy throw, made something out of nothing right there with all kinds of pressure from that Bulldog defense.
Well, he had a lot of pressure.
There's Everhart right there.
But what really sets this off, this is a coverage sack.
There was nobody to throw to.
So he had no other choice but the run.
But it was Mr. Everhart.
Those kids a great ball player.
And once again, we talked about him being able to get up, mean he got blocked and got up and came back and made the tackle.
So second and nine right here winds up top that's again fullbacks showing some blitz.
The ball flush out of the pocket Both throw it up and we'll throw it away.
Zach Tenuto the intended target, but once again see a ball under all kinds of pressure.
You know, you line in that three, five, look at you.
You got guys coming from all over the place.
You know, it's funny talking to Coach Fire at practice.
The offense is so good.
The defense is so good.
They frustrate each other in practice because they can't get anything done.
And when you've got the caliber of athletes they have as well, I mean, you got pressure, as you say, coming from anywhere.
39, of course, the conversion picture, the Raiders tonight, two of nine, North Gwinnett, three of seven.
Not a lot of success really for either team.
A little more for the Bulldogs but the Raiders try.
To convert right here, throw it up top down the field.
There's a man at the five touchdown, Bryce Garrett.
What a throw from Brayden Theobald the offensive line pulling them up and Garrett in the end zone, a three yard touchdown pass and catch Dave you ever heard that thing you live by the.
Blitz you made that about the blitz bringing a lot of that pressure right up the middle that puts a lot of pressure on your secondary.
You just have to find them wide open in the end zone.
Here's Schröder for the 18 and right down the middle in the Raiders are on the board with 159 left here in the third period.
So maybe that's the spark the Raiders needed to get back in this football game.
Crazier things have happened.
Let's watch that last one.
Play at the Blitz.
Like I said, it's coming right up the middle and he does a great job to stand in the pocket and he's got his eyes downfield.
He knows exactly where he's trying to put the football, and it's just a great catch.
And he just finishes off.
Touchdown, Walton.
This could be the spark.
They need it.
Here's the drive.
11 plays 80 yards for 39 by far the most productive drive of the night there.
And of course, Garrett with the 30 yard touchdown reception from that man right there, Braden Theobald, six foot £185 is, completed around 60% of his passes this year.
And we're talking with Coach Dudley.
See Coach Speier there on the sideline.
And no matter what quarterback Walt puts at the football game, whether it's Theobald or RAEBURN, they both are pretty equal in what they do.
As far as run pass.
It's just a matter of getting both guys in the game.
In fact, a lot of people say they look a lot alike and the way they play it, sometimes you can't tell who's in the ball game.
Well, you know, with some systems, you have one quarterback that's a better throw.
You have one that's a better runner.
But as you said, Coach Dell, is it both these guys, they're pretty much equal.
And to be able to have that no matter what one gets hurt, you put the other one in.
If you got to, you just play him.
And he says he plays him because he has two good quality quarterbacks.
It just so happened that Theobald was the quarterback in the game last week on that final drive against MLK and he helped lead them down the field there.
Gosh, Shriner and field goal range.
Shriner of course, who had missed two field goals in that game made to the second half, was the last one the game winner?
And it looks like the Raiders will line up for an onside kick here.
Shriner Trying to get the big bass right there ball rolling around.
Watch out.
It is still rolling around there.
I believe the Bulldogs got it back.
Boy, oh.
Boy.
It took the big pop.
Got the deflection right there.
One had a chance that ball was rolling around their ankles a little bit, but the Bulldogs come out of there with it.
Number seven, Patrick Thompson.
Puts a good hands team up front and hope somebody comes up with the ball, does a great Alford ball.
Got the bounce and you see Thompson fall in on it right there.
And Walton nearly came up with the football fan.
North Gwinnett will keep it right here with 159 left in the quarter, up 31 seven Michael Sam Burrow And that offense will go back to work the shotgun right here firing in the flat and Dickson with the grab gets it up off the ground there for a gain of 340 Knicks have been pretty active in the offense here tonight on the receiving end of things.
Let's take a look at the replay.
One of the things with being in the shotgun, it gives them real chance to kind of see the field, see his receivers.
A lot of times all you do is take four or five steps over the line of scrimmage, turn around, pick up a quick five.
Second and six for consecutive years in the playoffs for North Gwinnett and this double on the ground again in the middle and taking across the 45 there but a gain of about eight or nine yards and that's good for a first down.
Let's go downstairs to John Nelson.
John, when he got.
More on Tyler Jerry really quick.
He's a legacy.
His dad was a high school running back.
His older brother Ryan was a linebacker North and his brother Chad is a sophomore running back for this offense.
And what they would do is a challenge other kids in the neighborhood to tackle football in their own front.
What do you want to bet, guys?
If we went three on three with the juries, we would not be very successful at all.
I think that's a safe bet.
John, what are you saying?
I'm not touching that one.
Okay.
I'm old.
I used to run.
I bet I. Yeah, put a chicken wing out there.
It's got to be an incentive at one tip right there by one of the traders looked like Scott Willock 25 came across there and knock that ball away intended for Barnes the tight end.
You know one thing about coach Spiers offense no matter you know they're up but they're still going to keep staying in that same thing.
They got that spread they still got the tie.
I mean, they can run just about anything out of it.
And like I said, watching Tim Bureau, you really just appreciate, you know, a quarterback that can manage the game as well as he's doing.
Second down and ten right here.
Of course, as we mentioned, always good at beating Brookwood twice this year, of course, 20 to 21 early in the season.
That was a signature win for the Bulldogs this year.
And of course Sam Burrow on the keeper right there straight ahead for five or six.
Meanwhile, the Walton Raiders, of course, beating Roswell in their fourth game of the season 13 to 10.
Shriner kick was the difference in that one right there, of course, Roswell, the defending co-champions and five, of course, towns putting the Hornets out last week.
And we will see the Clowns Vikings a little bit later on tonight taking on Camden County.
And that should be a good one.
Charles Ward up with the call of that one.
And it's third and six, possibly the final play of the third quarter.
Sam Burrow, again, roll it out here.
Thrasher gets rid of it in and out of the hands of double the intended target.
And Walton, as you know, brought good pressure off the here tonight.
But again, tampering getting that ball out of his hands so quick but really he's going on block they know they don't even really have to block the defensive end, crash it down.
That's the actual key to that play.
If he gets rid of the ball that quick, his receivers just got to make sure they make those catches.
Fourth down, though, one of the rare times tonight the Bulldogs have had a punt that will it away Price Garrett and Billy Burns both back deep for the Raiders, hoping for a good return here.
That one kind of off the side of the foot.
They're trying to angle it away and that's the best part of the night for Miocic.
And they're still walking that one up the sideline right here, and they will mark it dead right at the 34 Bob, again, first season at North Gwinnett, 19 years, though, as a head coach, third coach in four years the Bulldogs have really been a victim of their own success, their coach, his last couple of coaches moving on to the college level and doing a lot of different things there and coach expire and again he's got the student body behind him.
The bomb squad as the student body is affectionately known inspired is the saying this year for the team.
And I'll tell you what this north Gwinnett Bulldog program looking inspired here tonight, Ray Rayburn in the ball game.
Trying to get rid of it, being pressured, escapes out of trouble and he will throw it away.
Big number 75, Darius Wilburn with the pressure.
Well, step aside.
The end of the third period here inside the Georgia, the 31 seven North Gwinnett.
Leads it over in the first of two five semifinals on the night.
The second one coming up here a little bit later on tonight at 9:00, allowance.
Vikings at 12 and one, taking on the Camden.
County Wildcat 212 and one.
That ought to be a good one as the five eight picture.
Becomes complete here tonight.
And of course, the final game, game ten of ten live this weekend right here on GPB after Dome.
As we mentioned, of course, the Dome is played host to more playoff football games in the state of Georgia than any other venue.
Next year, of course, the championship games will move here under the Big Ten as these teams return to the schools.
Dave Gardner, Phil Proctor, back with you.
John Nelson with us.
And that one tip and is it intercepted?
Still no signal.
Yet and they will give it to the Bulldogs, it looks like.
What a job, Eric Everhart, as the fourth quarter starts and now they're waving it off saying an incomplete pass.
But you got to give credit to Everhart Ground in the big bash.
Great reaction.
Just great reaction by the defensive linemen being able to block the ball.
He actually tips the ball and keeps his eyes on it.
Let's take a look at it.
For Freiberg with the pass right there.
And still fighting for it.
And try it.
Yeah, just didn't quite have control of it.
I think he initially kept off the carpet right there and lost it on the tail end of it.
Just never really had it and is in his bits there.
So it's third and ten.
Walton maintains possession.
That's the second interception grab or.
Hard on the night he had one of those bits earlier and here's Raven trying to score out of some pressure firing downfield Watch out he's got Garrett there off the fingertips.
Garrett with that 30.
Yard touchdown.
Reception while the going man nearly had that one.
That was a nice throw by Rayburn on the.
And that was a good job by Raven getting out the pressure came up This is same pressure they've been facing all night to be able to roll right and at the last minute to be able to see the receiver who just happened start sprinting away from the corner and almost made a spectacular catch.
Take another look at it right here.
Great effort.
Richard Kent will come in to boot it away.
Of course, the Raiders executed a fake punt on their last drive, and this time they will punt it away.
Cordero Dixon boy, what a punt right here over the head of Dixon.
And that ball will roll at the one.
Are you kidding me?
A perfect punt by Richard Kent.
Wow.
Inside the one.
You see the spiral, that.
Ball 65 yards.
Wow.
Look at it.
It just floats and gets that nice lucky bounce.
Wow, perfect punt right there.
So the Bulldogs will have to earn their next score.
No doubt.
Field position critical.
There.
You look at finals from yesterday, Wilcox County, 3214 over Athens Academy in the single day semifinals.
First of all, Cox County moving on right there.
It's a big ballgame coming up next week in a Class A championship.
Jared, a reception right there.
Out to the line.
Sanjuro out of his own ends on there.
Scott Willock with a tackle for a wall.
Of course, the other half of that single AA bracket will feature the Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs, who were 3514 winners over Clinch County.
So the single AA championship there again E C I and Wilcox County, triple-A action yesterday Carver a comeback winner of the Chamblee Bulldogs 2624.
So the Tigers moving on to the triple-A state championship right there, second down and one and Jared straightforward across the ten should have the first down for C Tucker tigers up big but the Northside Eagles battled back of the first of two semifinals last night so north side moving on to the state championship and they will face the wear county gators a ten seven winner over the Thomas County central yellowjackets in the nightcap last night, taking all your scores from yesterday right here inside the Georgia Dome.
And of course, earlier today, Buford, all over Dublin, the first of two matchups, 48, nothing.
Buford moving on.
And of course, they will face Lovett, who was a winner over 2916 on the ground right here, the Bulldogs moving forward up to the 15.
And of course prior to the kick off of this matchup, Karo sirup makers 40 to 21 over north wall the Trojans with a good season been going down and Caro of course moving on to the triple-A state championship next week and then of course later on tonight, the second half of the five day bracket between Lyons and Camden County.
Hope you'll join us for that one again.
Charles Ward and Jay Jones at the call of that one right there.
And look forward to having that one right here live on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
30 hours of live programing right here on GPB.
I want to say hi to the crew.
They done an excellent throughout the course of the week in Farm Bureau straight ahead.
That time picked up a couple.
Bulldogs just going to be content right now just to run their offensive game with the short passes keep the ball in ten bureau hand basically you want it in your playmakers hands he's the guy.
See the play card right there are looking on to the sideline.
They're play coming in they're really for the first time tonight feel the Bulldogs really not too anxious to snap the football they'll work a little bit off clock.
Well they talk about dictating the tempo and that's exactly what they're doing.
They I've done that here this evening once again.
On the ground, first down and more watch out 45 midfield in into raider territory goes currently double number 31 showing off a little speed right there you know talking about jarring some of those speedsters Gucci, Miro and.
So forth.
But look at the blocking.
Look at the blocking.
Everybody got a handle on somebody just creating a hole.
And this kid just does it on his own.
37 yards right there.
Robert Harrison may have saved a touchdown here at ASU in pursuit credit.
Those guys up front.
Thomas the center la point.
Shepard The guards dug in and hannah the big tackles in there are opening up some holes.
And he actually drug the defender for about another.
He carried him probably for about five, six more yards.
First and ten and a draw play right here double again gets his number called.
Not much there, though, this time as the Raiders close it down and they're going to look at the fourth one at sideline all smiles here to this point with 826 to go as the Bulldogs look to punch their ticket to the State Championship game next Saturday night.
Let's take a look at replay.
It's coming right at you.
This is what this would be like for you, Dave, if you were playing defense.
That's how you would have made that tackle here.
You look at Gurley's numbers here, the 96 rushes 53 yards for the senior second and nine after a gain of one and burrow looking back, firing down fields, got a man too tall for the intended target.
That is Yoshimura right here and will be a nine is the Walton Raider team that's been under the radar for most of the year after losing that first game.
Just take a look at that.
Replay it in almost had it.
You know at this point they when you're up like this, the clock does become a factor for Walton and you got to make some decisions.
You may have to start doing some blitzes and things of that nature.
But once again, with the offense the way it is, it's hard to make that judgment.
That's why I'm not coaching.
Well, this is a Raider team that they really don't beat themselves.
They haven't all year long.
But Morris Panetta is coming here with a good game plan.
They've drawn it up here tonight and they've executed 39 giant motion time single back Sam Burrow firing towards the sideline.
He's got Dixon complete and a good hit by Willock at the tail end of that play there he 89 miles Freberg had him wrapped up just shy the first down wolves won a lot of close games this year.
Four games without a touchdown.
A lot of good character wins this year for this Raider team.
And while North Gwinnett has had a couple of but five defensive touchdowns, very opportunistic, they put pressure on the QB, as we've seen here tonight.
And when it comes to the offense, well, you just can't say enough about what they've done throughout the year, averaging a little over 30 points a game.
And you talk about character, that Walton defense, you just got to give them credit.
They're still playing even though they're playing against a very difficult offense.
Fourth down and one right here.
The Bulldogs going for it, trying to get the first down, run the clock, it'll be blown dead.
Dead ball.
False start offense fourth down five yard field.
Rusty when the head man with the ball here tonight fourth down and six now and so the Bulldogs will try it on the punt team it looks like.
See coach Bob Speier over there also had some arena football experience as well there.
Dusty Bonner was his quarterback as a coach there.
By the way, I wonder if he found out whether his team.
In Lexington exactly won.
Yeah, that is going to be interesting to see what happened there.
Billy Burns back deep, Kyle McKissic puts it away and burns a little bounce into the end zone and the Raiders will bring it out to the water.
Paula, quick reminder for you.
Fans with friends and relatives outside of Georgia, this game is available live via the Gp-B website at WW dot gp-b dot org back slash football.
And once again, we thank you for watching all of the folks all across the country and all around the world.
As we mentioned earlier, top, of course, Sergeant Bobby Burns overseas there.
And of course, he's looking to make it back in there.
But Jason Yoshimura, his father in Japan, watching over the Web here tonight.
So no matter where are you at, we've got you covered right here.
Hey, GPP, that's what we want to do.
Make bring the action to you.
Yeah.
First attempt for the Raider offense.
They've got 729 to work with gray and fireball back in the lineup throw in deep down the field has a man there complete Wow and a big hit out of bounds right there but a great grab by JJ Jackson and we've seen Jackson lineup take a lot of snaps tonight and that's why Jackson out of the backfield left the sideline.
He got great protection, too, to be able to lay back and just throw that ball.
That's why I say the offensive line for Walton is doing a great job.
It's just that clock is starting to tick.
Jim Moreland on the coverage right there and know how the Raiders will spread it out here and try to work it down the field through the passing game trips, nearside the ball pass deep flat and as that's the drone dances and gets out of bounds brought up the first down marker that'll stop the clock for 714 that's the catch all forced him out.
And good recognition there by you know coach Delly and his offense to be able to see that those corners are actually laying off about four or five yards.
So why not take it to.
Five of all six foot 185 hooked up with price?
GARRETT Towards the end of that third period, a 30 yard touchdown pass a catch.
That's where the Raider points have come from.
While North Gwinnett doing most of their damage in the first half with a 24 now to get the break out of the 20 yard touchdown reception from Tyler Jerry and that's where we're at the ball under pressure we'll throw it as he goes down and that one sails one and out of bounds.
Morris would have had it covered up the ball trying to make something happen right here.
Billy Burns with two touchdown receptions against Parkview in round one, three touchdowns all together against Harrison in round two, but relatively quiet here tonight.
Thanks in part to that big bulldog defensive effort.
Well, the good thing about it is that you want to continue just staying in your game.
And you're right, they may have to start passing the ball a lot just to be able to get, you know, to rattle North Gwinnett out of their defense.
Three, five, three, right here in the house.
Again, the Raiders spreading them out, three up top, two to the near side.
And the pressure again coming in that.
Pass sales high get more pressure.
You know, you talk about the front three, you can see the ball took a shot there at the tail end of that play.
Eric Eberhart, with the pressure you talk about Everhart, Richard Wilburn, those guys up front have done an excellent job.
Richard looks like he's headed to central Florida.
A lot of D-1 prospects on both teams here.
Everhart, of course, with a big ball game, is nearly had two interceptions here tonight.
Third down conversions walk three of 11, north Gwinnett four of ten, third and ten upcoming right here.
Basically they are in Adam Shriner field goal range if they don't make it right here and you might want to just give him an opportunity here ball again under pressure will throw it he's got him incomplete but that's actually a two or three yard loss on the reception right there by s bedroom.
All night long, Walton has had to face that pressure of the Bulldogs.
They come in from all over the place.
They're blitzing, they're using.
Like I said, they're packing six, seven, eight in the box.
They're faking it, they're dropping back.
So you never know.
Are they going to rush you all the way?
Are they going to drop back five and just rush three?
He's so talented.
And like I said, they're multi dimensional in what they do in their defensive schemes.
Well, you know, we talk about the tempo of their offense.
Their defense also likes to set the tempo a little bit.
I mean, they're going to come after you basically every great play, they're bringing somebody from somewhere fourth down, 13, no football team going for it, 654 to play and watch Burns in the middle there.
He's got the football and trying to get to that first down marker loses the handle on it ball up Eric Everhart with the recovery Dustin Hatchell sticks it away from Burns who was right at the first down marker trying to make something else happen right there.
Just lost the handle on the football.
And, you know, you got to give them a lot of credit and they know that down.
They got to have a big place.
And he just gets stripped.
It almost looked like Burns was looking over at one point at the first down marker to see where it was that took his eyes off field a little bit.
And you can see Hatchell right there with the with the strip hatcher with two interceptions and round one against Marietta.
It's 162.
And of course, Everhart was there for the recovery.
And I'll tell you, whatever hurts is one of those guys that he just seems to have a knack for the football.
You know, whether it's in the air, on the ground, you name it.
He's a guy that can disrupt a lot of different things.
Now, Ajayi on the carry once again right there.
Let's go ahead and go downstairs.
John Nelson, what do you got?
A quick note on Bob's fire.
You can tell a lot by looking at a man's hands.
Look at spires and you see two championship rings.
One hand from the Lexington Horseman, the National Indoor League, the other from Lexington Catholic that he got in 2005.
And the question you guys had a little earlier, Lexington Catholic beat Paducah, Lone Oak.
So his old school got another state title.
There you go.
And inspire a game away from taking this North Gwynedd Bulldog team to a state championship appearance next week.
Not a lot of room there at all.
That Raider defense putting a clamp down there on second down will be third along right here for the Bulldogs.
Mike Tamburro again, an excellent effort here tonight, once again getting it done through the air and on the ground.
You we don't talk about it a lot with his legs, but he'll beat you there too.
And he's got the job done there as well.
He's a very, very well coached quarterback.
And he's you can tell, obviously, he's obviously been to some of those camps.
He understands the game.
He's a guy you want the ball in his hand around this time.
Jerry, 145 yards rushing last week and two touchdowns in that win over Noonan Temple rolling firing a man and that one, they're going to give him the grab right there.
They're going to say it bounced off the carpet.
Kenny Barnes right there, the tight end.
And I believe they aren't going to give him the catch up at the 38th.
One of the things about him.
But if you watch him and he did, they give it to him now.
They waved it off and thought, I saw the ball that yeah.
Play the ball.
It ricocheted off the ground.
Great call by the officials right there.
They've really done a good job tonight of getting together and asking for help and tell.
Tell.
That's an all star crew out there.
It is.
And it also allowed me to save the comment I was going to make.
A fourth down and two and the Bulldogs show and fight right here, 454 left in the game.
Kyle McKissic right here well put it away from inside his 20 gets it away to back deep and that is accurate on the return and will reach the 35 good coverage by North Gwinnett and what we'll take back over with 445 Marqise Willis down on special teams.
And you know coach Delanie has to just be a little frustrated because of the lack of field position.
They just had a very long field to work.
With fans in the house here tonight of course, the battle of the bands at halftime, both fans really showing up here in the Walt Raiders, throwing a football deep.
There's a completion, give it into Bulldog Territory, a 20 yard gain, but a penalty flag there and that might negate this one.
Number 62.
Offense, 15 yard penalty.
Half of this is going to go take the first down.
So that'll back the Raiders up right there and talking about the way we used to run and everything.
And, you know, what do you think about that offensive line here tonight for North Gwinnett?
They've been able to give Tim Bureau Burrow some time to throw the football, even though he's been a lot of quick passes there.
But you got to got to grade those guys up front pretty well.
Well, like I said, you know, when you've got a quarterback like them burrow that can actually sit in the pocket or he can roll out, you've got offensive schemes that gets guards pulling out to the outside.
It just just like I say, a credit to their offensive line coach.
They really work with these guys and they do an excellent job.
Ray Rayburn back in the game for Walton.
The Raiders offensive line, meanwhile, has also done a pretty good job.
They've opened a few holes there and they've given both these quarterbacks the ball and.
RAEBURN Time to throw the football once again.
RAY With Time Fires, he's got a man that's geared up across the 25 and up to the 28.
Bryce Garrett on another reception as the Raiders try to get some of that yardage back after the penalty.
The challenge for the Raiders is when you sit there and you start to spread the feel, a bit, you've got five guys, you know, your offensive line you see right here gave him great time to throw the ball.
You've got five and you don't know if you're blocking three, four, five, six or seven.
So It makes it very challenging.
And a lot of times those offensive linemen have to decide who they're picking up, especially on Blitz.
And as we mentioned, this is a rebuilt offensive line from 2006, but has really become the heart and soul of this football team throughout the season.
Pump fake Rayburn going long the sideline and not going beyond the arms of Billy Burns.
Nice coverage on the play there as well by the Bulldogs Secondary.
I'm going to look at the North Gwinnett sideline here in the home, black on black here tonight.
Of course, the fans with the blackout if you will, you see the student section there in the background, the bomb squad in the house here tonight for North Gwinnett.
And, of course, the Walton faithful also decked in white here tonight, trying to counter that, to balance here a little bit as far as the cheering sections are concerned.
And I know, as you mentioned, Bob Squier wants to twice.
Are you going to join?
Well, he certainly made me a believer, no doubt.
RAEBURN A little bit of time looking now firing got a man that one complete nice job there by Pedro and good job there to come back to the football initially it was no one open downfield but a nice read right there by us Pedro.
And that's what they teach you as a receiver.
If it's not there and your quarterback's in trouble, you come back to the football.
And the good thing is, Raven stayed in there, too.
I mean, he knew that somebody would come open.
That's just having a lot of confidence in your receivers, especially, like you said, the come back for the ball.
Nearing the three minute mark right here and the Raiders again, 12 and one an excellent season this year the region champs out of five eight.
Meanwhile, North Gwinnett, the number two seed coming in here tonight out of region seven five and a catch and then big hit Zack Snyder with the grab and van horn with the hit delivered over there out of the corner spot taking the fourth down.
And then once again, you just see the quickness of that bulldog defense.
Oh, and looks like it might hurt.
Might leave a mark right there, no doubt.
Van Horn, one of those big hitters in the secondary back there, those guys have really been lights out.
Paschall, Van Horn, Humphrey and Moreland, they are safeties.
Boylan's made a lot of tackles here tonight.
He's got a couple of interceptions on the year.
If you look at Coach Ed Dudley, here's a comment from about what he likes best about coaching.
You know, I'm sure you've heard it before, but I like interacting with the players.
I like watching them grow and change and grow up and come back ten years later.
So we get a chance to see them and see how they're doing and got into it 24 years ago to try and impact some kids.
And hopefully we've done that for the good.
And that's what's really fun about coaching in the.
Coach at Dudley a class, I had a chance to talk to Coach Dudley and Coach Byer before the football game tonight.
I know we sat down and really impressed with what these men have done with their programs and the way they've touched these kids lives.
And that's really what it's all about high school football.
It's not just about making these guys good football players a good student athletes, but also good people.
And both these men have done a good job of that.
Tyler Jerry on the carry down to the 34th down unsuccessful for the raiders right there and again north Gwinnett on the move right here but just trying to run out the clock inside 2 minutes and excellent job here tonight of course both schools with good websites as well.
North Gwinnett, too, with energy football, Morgan Walton with Raiders F Beacom you look at Patrick Thompson, his season totals there and he will come in in relief of Mike Timbre here tonight.
Thompson will take over as the QB and he's also done pretty well in his own right.
Well, I just want to say, you know, hats off of that Walton team.
I mean, they like I said, they wouldn't have got here, you know, if they didn't deserve it.
But these guys just faced a very and a very, like I say, a tempo based north going for that bulldog team.
Third short over the right side, that is Jerry.
But Chad, Jerry in the lineup right there.
Number 23 takes over for Tyler Thompson.
Of course, coming in in relief of Tamburro, who actually sat out one game at a concussion earlier in the year.
And Thompson came in in relief and won a game against South Side.
So he's certainly not new to the field by any means.
Very capable.
As we go under a minute.
So I've enjoyed it right here.
I'll tell you what, just a great ballgame here tonight.
The Bulldogs, of course, with the upper hand really in the first half, established momentum and never gave it up.
Yeah, definitely is true.
I Just want to know, do the Jared brothers really want to play us?
3030 Nellie needs to find that out.
Oh, man, I hope not.
Left side again.
Fresh unis in the ballgame right here.
Jan, get on the carry.
I don't I don't run.
I never did run very well.
My coach has always told me I look like a triple gazelle when I ran.
So I can only imagine what a triple gazelle look like.
Well, the celebration is on for the North Gwinnett Bulldogs final 20 seconds ticking off the Georgia Dome scoreboard clock, and they will have to snap it again.
Congratulations to Coach Bob Speier and the North grad Bulldogs, a 31 seven winner over the wall and Raiders.
And they are headed to the five a state championship next Saturday night right here on GPB.
Both teams meeting at midfield for North Gwinnett, a 31 seven winner over wall to advance to the state championship.
Jon Nelson standing by with the winning coach.
Here with Coach Fire.
First question, really easy.
How does it feel to be playing for a state title?
It feels great.
I mean, welcome to Georgia.
Feels like it's for two years.
And, you know, I had a chance to win a state champion, Kentucky, two years ago and it was no better feeling we were fortunate to win then.
I know we got our work cut out for us to go south.
Georgia is Camden, All Lions, great football programs.
And you know, we're happy to still be playing great balanced effort offense and defense.
Defense head won't be in lock down for the entire 48 minutes.
Yeah defense has played great every big game we want our defense has really, really played well.
I have sleep is probably the first time I feel like golf has kind of had to put it on their back.
But you know, both sides the ball the want the one blip on the fake point.
But other than that special team did great because they're really, really dangerous.
So, you know the complete 48 minute game really fast by congratulations got half the equation.
We'll figure out the next half coming up.
We'll send it back upstairs.
All right.
Thank you.
Great job tonight, John.
And we want to congratulate the North Gwinnett Bulldogs, who we will see you next Saturday night right here on GPB.
But coming up, the other half of the equation, it's loud in Camden County.
You should see the final score in this one north, Gwinnett 31, Walnut seven for the entire GPB crew and for Phil Proctor and Jon Nelson, I'm Dave Gunderson.
So long, everyone.
Stay with us.
More football all the way tonight for.
