Lawsuits filed by four individuals in NY and NJ allege McCarrick abused them as children

Former Cardinal Theodore McCarrick — once one of the highest-ranking Catholic officials in the U.S. — has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenage boy during a Massachusetts wedding reception in 1974, according to reports from the Boston Globe. McCarrick was defrocked in 2019 after a Vatican investigation confirmed he sexually molested both adults and children.
