Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(sonic sound) - I build almost all of my own instruments.
Because some of the ideas I have musically or sonically, can't be achieved with stuff that's off the shelf.
So, I've been building my own for 40 years.
(sonic sound) I guess they're just inspired by things that I've always kind of enjoyed.
I like really bad science fiction movies from the 1950s, you know, that have Jacob's ladders and Big Knobs, and you know, stuff like that.
I love that kind of stuff.
I'm not so much interested in melody or rhythm like a traditional musician would be.
I think that expression and texture are more interesting.
And that's what I'm always on the hunt for when I'm building sound.
(sonic sound) I'll keep building stuff until I, you know, can't move my fingers anymore.
